Title: SAK Whönogamy Club
Post by: magentus on September 19, 2017, 11:41:01 AM
Since starting the SAK Monogamy club way back and becoming quickly disillusioned with the whole thing, a shining new light entered our lives in the form of Ronald Schröder. His epic EDC has ushered in a new term here that Pabs coined - Schrönogamy. Carry however many SAK's your trousers will let you get away with.

I for one welcome our new Schrönogamous overlords  :salute:

Who's in?

I'll declare my intent with todays Schrönogamous offering: Phoenix Tinker, BuSchröder and Swissclump with a BO MP400 thrown in for good measure.

I imagine if you went with all 1-2 layer models you could cram almost a dozen or so in each pocket lol  :climber:  maybe even make a rambo style magazine belt ypunwere over the shoulder but with all SAKs.

I had a feeling yesterday that something like this was going to happen :ahhh

Today´s carry included (but wasn´t limited to) a Pioneer Solo, Carver SW, PX., MiniChamp, 100mm Pruner and Grafter. Tomorrow is my day off and my carry will be somewhat different, I´ll shoot some pics. I'm hoping my BushMagster will arrive too.

This I have to share...

Just 15 minutes ago the mailman delivered a small parcel, with in it my new alox knife, ex-Farmer, the one-and-only (of two) Magentus' BuSchröders, mine in new silver with keyring, Mags' in fainted black with a bail. You did a fine job, Mags! Thank you very much!

I wear jeans and my normal EDC carry is the following:

                watch pocket...Vic Cadet

right front pocket... Vic Nailclip 580

right side pocket that I sewed on...Swiss Champ

right side in sheath on belt...Alox Mini Champ

           right rear pocket...Vic Climber

left front pocket...Swiss Champ in a denim pouch

The only thing that varies is the color of the Swiss Champs. I have 17 Swiss Champs, so I will switch off which ones I carry.

There have been times I have used both Swiss Champs at the same time.  I have used both pliers to take the nut off of a bolt.  I have used both inline phillips to loosen 2 opposing phillips screws, etc.

I use the Alox Mini Champ when I am around people who are scared of knives, so as not to get anyone excited about me carrying a knife.

I carry the Climber in the event someone I am with wants to borrow my knife, and even then I first ask what they are going to use it on.

The Vic Cadet is in case I need a little bigger blade, but still am around people who are scared of knives.

The Vic Nail Clip 580 is a great nail clipper, and the nail file and tweezers used in conjunction, are just right for opening the paper towel holders, and toilet paper holders where I work when they need refilling.

Get one with zippered pockets. Stud buttons leave an opening and may cause loss of contents. Don't ask me how I know, I just do.

I'm not singing it firiki - I am dead set against PolySAKismSchrödology and all (I imagine) it stands for. The only song it would fit into is a prog song. I may pen an opus to span over 5 double albums at some point if the muse strikes.

For today I will settle for lugging the following around:

i do not call it "altering" but "post processing". As a kid I learned to do this while making prints in a dark room, there's nothing unusual about it. It can make your pics better if done judiciously.

My photo viewer program on the computer has an editing function. Quite basic, filters, crop, rotate, contrast, brightness, colour, etc, but it works for slight tweaks.
I agree bright sunlight tends to wash out the scale colours.

No logic, just that the SC is the most useful and together, these three are my favorite SAKs :D

Today's carry included nine eight SAKs, six Opinels, and two traditional slipjoints. Also a Bic Lighter, a FireSteel, a FlashLight, and a key chain prybar thingy with beer opener and my name laser engraved. In my pockets.

My 17 SAKs-and-other-blades carry turns my multi pocketed vest into an armored vest, with layer upon layer of steel protecting my upper body. It also serves as a dead weight to keep my feet firmly on the ground.  :D

Even then, I admit, I like having the MTs on my belt as well as the pockets full of other goodies. I like to overcarry, and have fun with my stuff even if not totally needed. EDCers FTW!

Overcarry is the word!

Today in my right vest pocket are keys, Bushcrafter, Opinel #8 slimline, Light my Fire steel, flashlight, BIC lighter, and handkerchief -- a fairly normal carry for anyone.

Distributed over my belt and other pockets are the add-ons pictured below. Am I going crazy, or what?

While I do have various SAKs and knives scattered amongst my gear I don't really fit the bill for this.
There is only one knife that is on me at all times, and that's my Handyman.
Depending on occasion I'll add a folding knife (usually a Small Sebenza) to my small pants pocket.

There is a Cybertool 34 in my work bag, I need the bitdrivers for fixing some machines at work.
In my car is a RescueTool. When I go into the woods I throw a Mora in my back or pack.

But there is only one knife that follows me everywhere, and that's my Handyman. I even took it scuba diving.

Nice combos El C.   :like:

I prefer carrying all of my combos at the same time  :D

As days are getting colder, I´ll be wearing my work coat, or one of my camo jackets, over my vest. Voila 5 additional pockets! :ahhh

Today, the pruning shears stayed in my backpack. I carried a few Opinels but only one´s in the picture. I think I got the SAKs right this time. Sometimes I find one or two hidden in a forgotten pocket, after I made the picture. Yesterday I was carrying my Director, in its nice leather sheath, and it ended up in the washing machine. No harm done, except it´s not in yesterday´s pic.

Today I walked to the Moerputten swamp to the southwest of my hometown. I covered maybe 15 miles in 6 hours.

In my right front pocket I carried a Spyderco Dragonfly Tattoo, in my right back pocket a Pioneer Solo.

On my belt, each in its own sheath, a SwissChamp, a PX, an alox MiniChamp, a +B Carver SW, and a Protech auto.

I carried several more items in my backpack (see pic below).

Of course I didn´t need all this stuff but I like carrying it.

The first pic shows the tangled mess in the swamp. Once you get off the plank footpath, you´re done for, there is no solid ground.

Thanks Mags, you´re a real friend. I´m a bit worried though I might end up in hospital, like The Peacent, and lose a substantial part of my collection.  I´m running a high risk of hernia, you know.

not an hernia risk for me, but the main drawback of over carrying is that. All the stuff in the two pics below was on my pants, belt and bag (all but the tiny Ganzo and Leatherman folding knives)

all lost at once by an unfortunate, unplanned event. So, carry and enjoy, but overcarry at your own (and your tools') risk!

well the visit to the hospital was completely unexpected, had I known tthat I would end up ther of course I'd left the stuff behind.
Even though legal, they took the big blades (I had to explain to the two officers the legal code and Spanish laws as they doubted of their legality but even then they decided to "take them all" to be sure and "properly dispose of or destroy the bigger edged tools") (destroy, my ass )

I know they went home with new toys and cool stuff in their pockets, thinking their lies would convince me and theor threat of suing me for "possession of forbidden weapons" would scare me away, but I know my rights and  the law and I decided to sue them instead for taking my things and making them "disappear" taking advantage of my situation and problems at the moment of my admission in the hospital.

now I've got a case running on the local courthouse waiting to the next step to happen. I've got material, photographic evidence and an inventory, made the day they took the things, with all my stuff. They won't get away with it so easily   :twak:

The Minichamp, S557, MP800, P. Tool Chest, Crunch and Hold Out will be hard to replace and expensive to get in my country, and the Minichamp and Spyderco had sentimental value, that made me reconsider my carry but hopefully such a chain of unfortunate events with crooked officers in between them won't happen again.

Sorry to hear about what happened to you.

Times have changed drastically since I was a kid in the 1950's and it saddens me that people are getting so scared of someone having a pocket knife.

I have carried a pocket knife since I was 8 years old, and I have had as many as 12 on me at times, so I can relate to you.

I hope you win your case. It would seem like you have enough evidence in your favor.

I haven´t posted any pics in this thread for over a week, I´m glad to see it´s doing well without me.  :)  :like:

Today i visited my parents and had a nice day with a good meal, my mother is the best cook in the world of course.

I carried my Carver, PX, alox MiniChamp and black SwissChamp. I didn´t get any pics unfortunately. Maybe tomorrow.

Here's a 'Schroder' of MT's as the collective noun goes. Smallbacca is holding a 'Scream for your Life' session on the U Boat.

Today I carried the black SwissChamp. And the Carver, the PX, and the alox MiniChamp.

I also carried those ten magnificent but underrated implements called fingers. Usually, when faced with the problem how to open a can with a pull tab, they suffice; today, however, I decided to use the SwissChamp´s hook. It was an outstanding performance, of course, but next time I´ll simply use my fingers again.

What in the world are you going on about Maggie?

Also what is this thing?

Also also I still have not received Greenwoody in the mail?

I can imagine you haven't. It's a contraction of Small Sebenza. But because it's a replica I refuse to call it by it's own name.
