Nice idea! I have to find my old zippo, I have it in one of those good places.. I have "paused" my smoking for the past 4 years (I think) and putt my zippo away at the same time

I find it really neat that there is a Vic Zippo--you'd think with them owning Case, they wouldn't make a knife for a competing knife company (but I do believe that there are a lot of knife guys who don't take SAKs seriously).

What a great thread!

I've had several Zippos over the years I'm going to have to see if I can fish one out

Three Zippo lighters here: chrome plated, blackened, and realtree camo. The rightmost lighter is a Karl Wieden (1935, but maybe it´s a replica, idk)

Nice turnout everyone!!

I wonder if there is a way to keep fuel from evaporating from a zippo? For that reason alone, disposable lighters work much better. But then again, I never need a lighter anyway. *shrugs*
-
butane inserts, rubber gaskets...
-
I have seen people put ranger bands over the lid joint to slow down the evaporation, not very good solution though, the Wenger i have is terrible for it but thankfully it carries its own auxiliary fuel tank (the red part) that never leaks or evaporates so it always has fuel as long as i remember to refill the aux tank :tu:
-
It's just one of the little quirks that all zippos have I guess. As long as you keep reserve fuel on hand you can usually get a week or two out of a fill up. Here's my cg zippo with my s18 accompanying it

I used to have a brass-bodied ladies' size zippo that was my EDC for camping adventures for 20+ years, but sadly when I went to look for it, I couldn't find it. This garden variety chrome plated full size specimen still lives on my workbench although I never use it anymore.
Great idea for a thread, though. Here is my chrome full size next to the OC Pioneer I just picked up from SteveC. Great guy to deal with, by the way! :)

I finally found it! This was part of my edc for years (from the time before I knew what edc was) a zippo for smoking and a sportsman as my pocket knife. I did have a separate light on my phone

My old Zippo and new Rambler. Have not used the Zippo since 2008 when I stopped smoking. It was a anniversary present from my wife years before.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181129/48138f36755a5461e3397eac97486a2e.jpg)

I love special Victorinox + Zippo duo sets released for Japanese market.
They usually are sold in neat boxes. The Vic scales are extra shiny and polished, probably special care for Japan.
One set is numbered.

I used to have a nice Venitian patterned Zippo with Roman numerals on the bottom
Unfortunately it was stolen from my big 'ol Chevy Blazer one night.
I have a replacement but I'll have to dig it out of the Jeep.
Nice pics, everyone. Good quality metal is where it's at

Here is my EDC. I don't smoke but i like the smell and sound of my Zippo. And sometimes it is very usefull to ignite the blowtorch at work.

I feel like I'm reviving a very very old thread here, but I found it on the SAK club page, and it seems like such a great thread I don't want to let it remain dead! I really think these two go well together. It's like alox and alox! Plus, any excuse to carry the electrician...
-
Good thread necro!
This is the same zippo I posted years ago; armored brass case with pipe lighter insert. I’ve since added a Vic shield that came off the sheath from my spirit.
Paired tonight with my 2018 berry pioneer, my edc.
-
Not strictly a Zippo, I guess, but close enough. (Should read fīat iūstitia, et pereat mundus, not 'piriat', but they made a mistake ???).
