Title: Schollhorn pruners No. 25-8
Post by: Yadda on January 28, 2015, 05:21:16 AM: I picked these up at auction last year. Schollhorn pruners patent pending 25-8.

The blades on these things are huge. They need sharpening, but other than that these are great pruners.

In the same photo is my Leatherman Hybrid and Felco Model 7 for size comparison.

Thanks Tony! Definitely great leverage, surprisingly the "spring" in the handles is still excellent too!

Thanks David! First ones I've seen too! I haven't found anything on them yet. Design indicates 40's or 50's. Weiss (Wiss?), Smith and a few others have similar large blade designs from around the same era. I also have a 102. The square jaw design is similar to the plierench.

Each side is forged in one piece, lopper blade all the way to end of handle. Handles are at least 20" so there is great leverage. I honestly think if I tried them on a 1/4" bolt I could cut it. The handles barely deflect on a 1" branch. I have similar set of hedge trimmers. Man they made stuff to last back then.
