I want this thread to be specifically devoted to AAA Flashlights :D
I think they've been neglected for some reason (some people thinks size matters )
And I've allllways loved them and found them to be the most convenient to carry. Or I just love the form factor. Anyway, I want to seeeee AAA lights, just love them :D :gimme:

Cool pics, Zoid :D
I gave my last i3s to a friend, probably I should buy another one for myself :ahhh
-
I've got a blue i3s coming, but Amazon is taking forever to ship it ugh.

Oh, you're going to LOVE this, I don't know why I haven't ordered another one yet actually. It's one of the most amazing lights EVER. The medium 20-lumen mode lasts for 8hrs and it's got mooonliiiighttt... but you should know that, I got carried away

hmm you think it's a big problem with you match flashlights with SAKs?
-
The only AAA flashlights I have are Maglite, both a 1 and 2 AAA, everything else is AA or 123.

@mrynnr
Lol, I lllove matching my gear :D :D
@Jus,
Someone needs to do some catching up on the flashlight front :D :D

this tells me you need a blue farmer
-
+1 on the form factor. I don't like twisty UIs so its single output for me. Loved my black TiS before I lost it and its EDC friends  The blue one is fine except it's blue. A great focussed hot spot. The Ti2 V2 is really heavily orange peeled and the throw suffers. Its NW, not sure about the CW.
The Suprabeam is a really good flashlight. Too long for keychain carry but, with its adjustable focus and tail clicky, a great pocket inspection light. The only item I have apart from pens that I pocket clip carry.

@Jus,
AAA lights? :D
@pingu,
You lost your light? lightS? How? :(
-
mrynnr,
I may have a nice place for you .... :D http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,53470.msg918750.html#msg918750
-
@pingu,
You lost your light? lightS? How? :(
Yes the irony. It was on my EDC carry which I believe probably got left at the back of a sports locker. But even worse so was my black Evo 18
-
oh, I don't even want to know how that feels, must be awful.
on the bright side, you have/had a reason to buy more flashlights!
-
I carry my i3s everyday, clipped to whichever SAK/MT gets chosen for the day.
The only other AAA light I have is a Preon clicky, which lives in my glovebox toolkit.

I love me some AA or AAA lights.
-
And the i3s wears beautifully if you ask me :D
-
That's all the people who have AAA lights ?? :ahhh
-
I have not got around to taking a picture.
-
That's all the people who have AAA lights ?? :ahhh
Sorry, I don't have any AAA flashlights. Just AA and up.
Nate
That's us mobile
-
I'm experience some no-AAA-pic withdrawal symptoms, which include a spontaneous desire to buy another AAA :ahhh
I should never keep money in my account ever.
-
I have one, but I am not good with taking pictures
-
I have a black and a ss E05 which i love to edc, but i have no pics to show.
-
I have several AAA lights, but they're all over the place, and it would be a real PITA to get them together.
Here's what I've got (though I might have forgotten one or two):
Gerber Tempo (in BG Strata kit)
Red Thrunite Ti (with Gerber Dime and Evo 88)
Stainless Thrunite Ti on house keys
Preon Revo
Maratac copper AAA
Gerber Omnivore
Titanium Klarus Mi6
Orange Nitecore T0 (with Fuse-ilier mod)
A couple of 2x AAA penlights somewhere
There's pics of all of them on the forum somewhere
-
50ft raft,
That'd be an awesome collection to see in one place
DKS,
You. Are. Mean. :D

50ft Raft, that's great!

Sorry Al,
Nate

:D
Well a 50ft-trad is kind of a raft.... with walls and windows and doors and roof and engine and galley and bathroom and ....
:P :D

   omg, sorry
DKS, seeee, beer doesn't lead to anything more but inability to read.

That is why I had lots of wine, took some weird toy pictures and went to sleep...

Are you sleep walking or sleep talking now :ahhh

Dreaming..... :dd:
-
50ft raft, bahaha.
-
I only have a couple of AAA flash lights, Fenix E01 & E05 and a Maglite Solitare I seem to have misplaced. Might take some pics later on.
-
I found some torches that I had nearby and took some pictures:
1AAA
(http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee484/jladks/toys/DSCF6117.jpg)
found one more, afterwards.
I have several of the Tank007 E09 (the golden standard :) )and some others. Currently I have replaced most of my keychain lights with E09s
I also decided to show some multiple AAA lights
2AAA (I also have a maglite and some other small lights somewhere)
size comparison
(http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee484/jladks/toys/DSCF6123.jpg)
Dedicated 3AAA torches
(http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee484/jladks/toys/DSCF6126.jpg)
Most 18650 or 22650 torches will also run with 3AAAs with a special AAA adapter (shown in picture)
Most of the ones discussed, together.
I have more details regarding the lower cost ones in the review section (see signature line ) if anybody is interested in a specific one.
-
ohhh thanks for the pics  I really like seeing lots of these next to each other, they remind me small soldiers :D :D:D

Good to see you satisfied  :tu:

A couple of mine. Fenix E05 2014 and Pelican 1910 single mode. Need new batteries plus mucking around with lighting from much stronger light
(http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo231/robbieb83/Mobile%20Uploads/20150629_132330.jpg) (http://s379.photobucket.com/user/robbieb83/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150629_132330.jpg.html)
-
Thanks for the pictures :salute:
I guess the E05 is the shortest AAA light available..?
-
My 2 versions of the 3 level (8, 25, 85 lumen - 15h, 4h, 1h) E05.
Additional i have a old Mag Solitaire, which is not worth the time to take a pic.
-
Cool, thanks for the pics! The stainless E05 looks great. Another light I wanted to buy, but didn't for some reason  Anyway, I guess I'm glad I bought the E02 instead.
Btw, as for the useless Solitaire, it's probably the Maglite light I've used the most, lol. Due to the lack of a moon mode on my lights, I use the Solitaire sometimes at night when I don't want the bright light to hurt my eyes :D
-
Bump...
Here are a few of my AAA flashlights:
- - Fenix E01 (I have many of these stashed in different places; this is a new one waiting to go)
- - Coast G45 (goes to work in my backpack every day for use on construction sites)
- - Coast G10 (a new one waiting to go)
- - UST SplashFlash (lives with my camping gear or in my daypack)
-
Thanks for the pictures :salute:
I guess the E05 is the shortest AAA light available..?
It would have to be close. Thinnest would likely be the Solitaire.
I also have an Olight i3s, Led Lenser P2 BM, SS Fenix E05, and an LD02. For close to 40 lumens or so, the Pelican has the best throw. I like using the i3s for reading with its moonlight mode. Not so sure about the LD02. I don't think it offers enough for the extra cost. The E05 is my keychain EDC. I use the Pelican 1910 at work for seeing into dark recesses at a distance, and the P2 is in the sheath with my Surge
Also have on the way, Tank E09, Tank PA01 and PA02 (they were all fairly cheap), and Thrunite Ti3 in NW, though not sure yet what the NW will be like. Work is buying me a Pelican 1920 as well
-
I also think that the i3s is the best AAA so far. It's almost half the price of the LD02, but it has sooo much run time, plus moonlight, plus strobe. I just have to buy another one some time

Yeah, just do it :D

I may reward myself at the end of this month if I do well at uni ... :D I have to decide what colour to get, though. sigh.
-
All of them. :D
-
So I finally contacted Amazon and asked why it was taking over a week to ship. They apologized for the inconvenience and upgraded the shipping to overnight. I'm getting it tomorrow! Whoo hoo!
-
NNR you deserve to buy an alox, not just a light . YOU are worth it !! :D
(some available fro sale here too...)

Yes, some of the ones I saw on ebay were a very light blue.
Do you have any blue tools?
-
I only have a blue Micra, I think, nothing else  And a blue fenix E01, but this doesn't count, lol.
-
I think you need a blue one to go with your Micra then. :poke:
I bought a gold one for a friend, I quite liked it.
-
I used to have a blue i3 and then a golden i3s.... loved them both :D The red i3s used to be more raspberry than what it looks on some of the new colours and it was awesome too...
From the new colours I think I like the blue/gold the most, indeed. SO... who knows.
-
I could do with a gold one. :)

I like it... A LOT :) :tu:

I could do with a gold one. :)
But you chose black. Did I show you the gold one?

I love AAA lights. I included the Gerber Infinity because as you all know this light can take AAA's.

You didn't and at the time I didn't have that SAK.

Is the orange lanyard clashing with the color scheme? Lol

No, that blue and orange kinda has a football uniform look to it...

-
@Aloha, awesome pic and collection :tu:
Lool, no, I haven't gotten one yet, lol. I'm not sure if I should or shouldn't, will or won't... haha
-
Thanks NNR. I really like the small size of the AAA lights. The output is on par with some AA lights as well.
-
Thanks NNR. I really like the small size of the AAA lights. The output is on par with some AA lights as well.
Indeed. I wouldn't carry (unless I need long run times) my Feix LD12 or E11 since I can have 80-100 lumens on an AAA light in a lot tinier package :tu:
-
My Atom A0 and Preon P0 were semi impulse buys. Talk about small AAA lights, I got the Titanium Atom A0 with red LED which I really love.
I have been wavering with getting the Thrunite Ti and/or the Tis in SS.
-
Hm... I was thinking of a Ti myself some time ago, but then I saw some YT reviews.. and some people say that the tiny wire thing in the head that makes the contact (I think) maybe bent too much or later get bent too much.. and not make contact actually ... Anyway, I don't remember the exact issue and not sure if I'm talking about the right thing at all, but I think there were some reliability issues with these
-
Cool pic mrynnr. :tu:
thanks Z!

I know I own a few other cheap 1xAAA lights, but here are the ones I have to hand and rate highly enough to carry.
L-R: Hugsby XP-1 (the best bang for buck light I own), Leatherman Monarch 300, Thrunite Ti 2-mode, Rare red Fenix L0D, Classic Fenix E01, Thrunite Ti3 NW, and Fenix E05 single mode.

My 1xAA lights.

L-R: Cheap but surprisingly good from Life Gear, Eagletac P10A, Jetbeam Jet-1 Pro V3.0, Romisen something-or-other, Eagletac P25A Clicky (AKA "The King"), Gerber Infinity, Thrunite T10 (2012 twisty version that has little to do with the new one).
The Jetbeam is a crackingly good light that I'd carry a lot more is it was a little slimmer.

Oops, I didn't even think to include my 2xAAA lights.
I've got on of the Tank007 PA02 as well Rob. Tell me though, does yours have problems with the mode sequencing? With mine it ALWAYS steps to the next level after you switch it off and on again. So; switch it off in Low, wait as long as you like, switch it on again and it'll go to Medium. Switch it off again, wait 2 seconds or 2 days and the next time you switch it on it'll come on in High. I'd like it if not for this very odd arrangement.

I'd like it if not for this very odd arrangement.
My PA02 is single mode, but the PA01 is multi mode. The PA01 does have memory and step to the next mode from previous next time, but I thought the sequence was High, Medium, Low. Something odd about the physical design, the clip can be reversed on the PA02 but not on the 1. But for the price I paid it is quite good

Oops, I didn't even think to include my 2xAAA lights.

You might well be right on the mode sequence, I've not tried mine in a good while.

Awesome collections, people :tu:

Thought I had more AAAs than this but the rest are AA.

LED Lenser A3. not the brightest lite in the world, but it goes forever;
Ultrafire LZZ-06 with a gently driven XP-E Q5. Hi-Lo modes, twistie. Just got this yesterday, looks to be okay quality but even if it spec's 10440 LiON cells it is just a little too short to take protected cells. But it goes well enough on a NiMH;
TrustFire F23 Stainless Steel with a XP-E Q3 emitter. 3 mode Hi-Lo-strobe; Rides in the side pocket of my Wave mkII's pouch.
Who hasn't got a MagLite Solitaire? This one is from my SwissChamp SOS kit.
Also have a 3xAAA "PopLite" LedLenser clone at work.

How does that Lumapower behave? Long ago I was dying for one, but couldn't find it at proper shipping price anywhere. Later I got the Lumintop and LD02, but the Lumapower was the first AAA clicky I fell in love with.

It was my 3rd aaa light. I was a bit smitten with the glowing o-ring in the head and the glowing clicky cover...just had to have it. Out of the box it didn't work with a lithium battery. I had to put a little piece of solder between the button on the battery and the head of the light to get it working.
Functioned well after that but the switch failed in less than a year. I contacted Lumapower and Ricky (I think) sent me a replacement switch for just the cost of shipping. All has been well since then, no solder needed.
I have never tried it with a rechargable though.
Low-medium-high are comparable to the others. I think the Maratac aaa is my favorite though.
-
Hmmm, thanks. That failing switch makes me not regret not buying it

You're welcome. I bought the Lumintop after asking how you liked it. It is a nice little light.
I've been eying up the Olight S1 Baton lately. Not aaaa light, but it may be my next purchase.
-
Guess I messed up that quote somehow.
-
After asking how *I* liked it? Or am I seeing things :D
I was also looking at some Baton not long ago, but for some reason I don't think I'll like that single smart-button thingie... mostly because it's on the side.

N_N_R - You're not seeing things. I asked you about it a while ago (different thread).
I blame MT.O and the great members for most of my multitool/knife/light purchases. I see all this cool stuff and I can't help myself. (my collection is still pretty modest though)

You asked me about the Lumapower ?? :ahhh :ahhh I'm sorry, I really don't remember

My mistake! Wasn't you. I Just looked back at my posts. It was another 3 letter username. I apologize for the confusion.
But you did chime in... :) (about the lumintop)

I still can't get over my Preon 2 gen 2 stopping working after 6 months.
My girlfriend wanted nothing but a Maglite, so i bought her a Solitaire, already flickering after less than 10 months of usage ???
Gonna ask for warranty now...

Mine was flickering on opening :ahhh I'm almost happy you have this problem because I was starting to think my LED Solitaire was the only crappy one in the world. That's the worst spent money ever for me.

What i think is that the thin metal piece that makes contact to the cell on the LED side is too weak and does not act as a spring anymore, this looks like a concept issue more than a model issue. I'm curious about how was made the Old Solitaire (bulb ones)?

I have no clue.... and I don't want to take them apart as I'll sure break damage them.

ah, i was talking about the inside piece that connects the + side of the cell:
second pic is to show how the first picture was taken. (Solitaire head towards floor, bottom piece and battery removed)
-
Yeah, sorry, I didn't read the "cell" part
Maybe you're right....
I haven't examined it closely at all. I only know it works after ......... shaking.

Use my thrunite ti2 v2 for jogging through the woods after work. No need for anything bigger or brighter.

Just curious, why not a head lamp?
1st half of my run is through dark woodland , 2nd half is back along streets. I can tuck a aaa lamp away in my pocket for the street part. Also, shouldn't care but feel like I look a wally with a headlamp on :-[

I always wanted to go to England and live on a narrow boat! One of my regrets in life.

Maglite Solitaire LED (which I recently retired from EDC service duty), Thrunite Ti3 and Lumintop Tool AAA... The last two being in rotation... If I carry one in the pocket, the other is on standby in my EDC pouch...

Looks like my Nitecore MT06 is dying: it didn't lit up correctly last night, with barely 1lm with 2xNiMH and nothing with Alkalines (all brand new for testing)
Thankfully my LD12 is always there when needed.
This morning the MT06 works again, for no apparent reason
(I store it in my bag unscrewed by 1/4th turn as recommended)

Bahm, here it happened again, blinked, and then "firefly" .... But it's not an intended mode on this flashlight
