Is that an almost month old picture or is there a reason for the date being off? Nice watch anyhow, looks great!
Edit: Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Loving the knife so far. Snap is just as good as when I got it. Not really a half stop, but there is something there that slows it down.. it's a great knife overall and takes a good edge(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170708/711c554ae1906758640673178a217b6c.jpg)How you liking that knife so far?
Is the half stop (it has a half stop?) and open close position still snappy?
I teallu like the looks and shap and ergos of that knife. :salute:

Ti model?
Not exactly wearing but it’s on me. Hay under the wristband was driving me nuts so this one got the nod. I provide the “battery” twice a day. This one has been doing its thing since 1897, a bit before most of us were born I’m thinking. 😛

I repaired that issue on multiple watches myself. That is one of my fav watches, I do have one of the tools to take the back off, but I don’t think I can do it.. it does need a battery along withabout 5 others, I just don’t even want to know how much it would cost.. :(
Superglue, tweezers and a solid hand are all you need.
... And a tool to open the case and remove the stem and crown.
This one again. :)
Do not use superglue on it! It will ruin not just the movement, but the entire watch rendering it completely non-repairable, and that's if you don't screw up the use of superglue. A decent watch maker can fix that quickly and the cost won't be high. It's relatively simple but requires the proper hand setting tools and training on how to use them.I repaired that issue on multiple watches myself. That is one of my fav watches, I do have one of the tools to take the back off, but I don’t think I can do it.. it does need a battery along withabout 5 others, I just don’t even want to know how much it would cost.. :(

I actully sent two emails to two local shops, one looks like a little hole in the wall shop that changes batteries while you wait, that will take care five of my problems, which just leaves the one hand, so I might get an email Tuesday with a guesstimate,Do not use superglue on it! The trick is finding one locally that actually does the work on watches himself that knows what he's doing. Fitting hands to movements is one of the first and most essential skills learned. There are ways of repairing the hand and the hole in it that mounts it to the movement pinion that are simple and easy to accomplish, if it even needs rework and not just being pressed back on. Hands are not supposed to be permanently mounted, but friction fit onto the pinions. Otherwise they would not be removable to allow removing the dial and working on the movement. A mall or chain jewelry store is not the place to go for this kind of service. The independent jewelry stores with their own watch repair on premises are the places to start looking and the first question should be whether or not they do this kind of work in-house or send it out to a repair service, the latter of which you don't want.

I hear you on the snobby, some it’s more about the name rather then the quality! I’ll never own a Rolex first cause I’ll never have enough $$, lol. All but two of my watches were given as a gift, one being that solid titanium one that needs the hand fixed, I’ve always loved watches and still have my eye on one and Father’s Day is coming up :whistle:I actully sent two emails to two local shops, one looks like a little hole in the wall shop that changes batteries while you wait, that will take care five of my problems, which just leaves the one hand, so I might get an email Tuesday with a guesstimate,Do not use superglue on it! The place I would take it where I live (much too far from you) was a Rolex dealer for decades until Rolex got too snooty about where their dealers were located and yanked it (you're not in the kind of demographic we want to serve). One of the reasons I'll never own a Rolex for any reason. Rolex is all about promoting a snobbish brand image that blatantly brandishes ostentatious wealth. They're a Swatch Group dealer now with several of the Swatch Group brands, as well as a Seiko and Fossil dealer. They sell a wide range from rather high end products to things like Fossil. They do custom jewelry fabrication in addition to full service watch work in-house, mechanical and quartz including complete overhauls of vintage pieces. Their head watchmaker has fabricated custom wrist watches from scratch. Prices for jewelry and watch repair are not exorbitant, they're very reasonable. This is the kind of place you want to find and it's likely where you live that it shouldn't be too difficult to find one. Resetting a hand is a very simple task for a modestly experienced and trained real watchmaker. One of the very first skills they learn as it's essential to reassembling a watch after having worked on its movement.

The hand is even easier... no need for glue.
It should pop back in.
Unless it's broken off...
Can you show a higher res./sharper Pic?
Pretty sure a good jeweler could fix that JR, they would probably give you an estimate if you brought it in.Well I got two jewelers around the corner, hopefully they can and it won’t be too much, the one is a big place the other a little hole in the wall, so I guess we’ll see

Very nice, clown. I love that serrated blade on your VSAK and the one-piece leather NATO strap. Great combo!

Update:
Hey CLOWN, I’m sure you’ll like this..
I got an email back from invicta and they were sooo sorry, asking me to send it in, but in order to do so I have to send a check for $28 and that only to cover their shipping it back, nothing to do with what it might cost to fix it! To top that they also wanted paperwork on it, like dude, I got it as a gift! Anyway I kinda put 2 and 2 together after reading that link you posted and had an idea, I ended up taking that casing off the back and removed the battery(so easy, i tank I’ll just do them myself from now) but since it was cleared I could start from the beginning in which got what looks to be everything on point! It is not atomically set, it’s off by 30sec but I’m not pushing it, I’ll live with it for now, if it does go to set itself, all it will end up doing is spin ahead the 30sec, now if it was 30 sec ahead it would have to spin 11h-59m-30sec in order to set! So I’m good for now! Watch the video, it’s just 10sec but you can watch how it sets itself..

Well, she’s set to atomic time, last night it must have received a signal cause it’s to the sec on my other watch and clock! I did do a little fix on the clasp, one of the pins that went through I noticed was broke, so I found something of the same size then took a mini ballpeen hammer and made it all nice and neat, you’d never know! So I guess I’ll be switch wearing between this one and my Casio, :)Update:

Whoa cool video! First time I've seen that outside a sci-fi movie. Glad you got it at least mostly figured out. The response you got from Invicta is certainly disappointing :/ At least you cn hopefully enjoy it again. If you ever get sick of it let me know:D

:tu:Well, she’s set to atomic time, last night it must have received a signal cause it’s to the sec on my other watch and clock! I did do a little fix on the clasp, one of the pins that went through I noticed was broke, so I found something of the same size then took a mini ballpeen hammer and made it all nice and neat, you’d never know! So I guess I’ll be switch wearing between this one and my Casio, :)Update:

Early Omega Automatic Seamaster Calendar. One of my favorite watches.
Thank you, twiliter!Early Omega Automatic Seamaster Calendar. One of my favorite watches.
Nice one GLBM. :like:
I have my grandfather's retirement watch, an Omega Automatic but not the Seamaster unfortunately. It has the old flexible metal band with no clasp which is a real hair puller. Also the stainless back must have a high nickel content, which gives me a rash after 15-20 min. :-\ Still runs great! Funny how much watches have grown, the early Omegas were pretty compact, this one I have is no more than 35mm which seems to be average for that era (60's), but my INOX is 43mm, which is not even on the large side of average nowadays. Yours might be a little bigger having the date wheel, I think the early Seamasters were larger. :tu:

That is a nice Vic watch. I love the color scheme quite a lot. :)
If you would like, maybe post a pic of the Omega. I have helped a few people pic out bands that are more appropriate to being contemporary. For example, a classic nato style band may siut your Omega and give it the appearance of being a little wider. The nato type band would also keep the case back from touching your arm. :)
Those twist-o-flex bands should have been outlawed years ago. I have tried wearing them and they just pinch and scratch my arm. I don't know how old-timers wear them.
Tag Automatic Aquaracer today.

It is strange how many variants they are. Mine is from the mid 1990s I believe. 25j movement.
The titanium ones are sweet! The only titanium watch I have is a gruen chronograph. I need to get a battery for that one. :ahhh
Your bumper automatic Omega is quite uncommon. A nice piece of horological history.

Thank you very much, Myron!
I am guessing you mean the Universal?
Quite an odd watch and acquired in an odd circumstance. I know a lady who inherited a bunch of vintage wrist watches. He was a watchmaker. Most of the watches need a lot of help, and the Universal was no exception. I bought about twenty watches from her. The man did have a slip of paper saying it had been serviced about 12 years ago. The crystal is glass and was absolutely scratched to the point the dial looked bad. Usually an acrylic crystal is a 1,2,3 polish with brasso. Not glass though. I took it apart to check the movement and saw the dial was immaculate(hands are fair, but lumis isn't perfect. 70+yo watch, so that isn't a deal breaker. I sanded the glass down with 180 grit Emory paper, rough polished on the cloth wheel and finished with a hand polish with brasso.
I don't have any information outside of that. The band isn't original, but seems perfect for it.
Here are a couple of photos of the crystal work. :ahhh
Thank you for the interest, myron! :)
Very nice, eTrip!
Good strap choice as well. :like:
I see some dive watches with cheap-o replacement rubber two-piece bands and the whole look is ruined.. :ahhh
Very nice Vostok, eTripper! :like:
I'm gonna have to wear a big modern diver tomorrow. :)
Today at the orthopaedic doctor today, so wanted something simple.
So, a vintage 1965 Bulova 17J Wind-up(34mm - big for a vintage) did the trick. One of my favorite dials on an old watch. :)

Thank you, JR!
What watch are you going with today? :)
Do you travel often, JR? Aside from that and adjusting for DST, I can't see a real strong advantage that would make atomic worth the extra money. :think:The only traveling I do is to the store or to the doctors office, the one I wore yesterday is atomic, but it’s not solar or self-winding, unlike the Casio that I wear mostly everyday, that’s everything, atomic, solar, day, date, even nightlight, but it’s digital. The only nice thing to atomic is like no matter what you know you got the right time, your not even off by a few sec.. even the DST and travel doesn’t always work especially for travel, cause even if you go to a diff time zone you have to adjust it, just because you crossed the line doesn’t change it..

this is gonna sound stupid ( but im used to that happening :D) i always looked at opinels as a kitchen knife , not really an edc. maybe its time to rethink it .
It’s a radio signal, the one in US is out of Colorado, the rest are spread across the world. They are a pain cause if you adjust it come 2-4am it will readjust to what your timezone its set for, that’s why it should have a 2nd time, the first one you leave alone, but then when traveling you set that one because it won’t change back, then when back to your norm time you just switch back ready to go.. at least that’s what I thought I read in the manual when I got it..Do you travel often, JR? I’ve wanted this citizen for so long, it’s analog, solar, the hours are in numbers rather then just marks, along with min, and it’ has both date and day, the only thing it’s not is atomic.. then it would be perfect in my book, I’m sure there’s one out there but then I’m sure the price would be waaaaaay up there..

Great watch! I recently got one myself. I wasnt thrilled with the strap as the large holes wouldn't allow the right adjustment on my wrist. I put a leather NATO on it and now its perfect. Enjoy!

I saw a review a while back by the Urban Gentry. He basically stated, these are the very watches, that you would want to wear in a post-apocolyptic scenario.
Pulled my Deep Blue NATO from the watch box. You know what they say: "Don't be afraid of the dark.".That is a classy diver. Coin bezel, day/date, crown at 4, clean dial and automatic. Checks a lot of boxes. :) . Great choice of band too..

What’s better eco or automatic?
I’ve been looking cause I soooo want that citizen, yet that’s eco and I kinda like some of these divers which are automatic, now each have their downers cause the eco’s are still battery, it’s just a self charge so they can go bad, and an automatic is a spring, it gets wound up as you do whatever, yet it can also lose its tension, other downer is it can be to it’s max and will only run for like 2days if you do nothing, in like a solar charge eco which can go months without anything..
What’s everybodys thoughts?

Well maybe move the day/date and crown to 4 rather then 3 so it doesn’t dig into the top of your hand?

Check Opinel out when you can. They have many different sizes and a few styles. They carry fairly well and are so light weight, you'll forget it is in your pocket. :tu:
I recently got a #12 and love it. It is a big one though. The No.8 seems most popular. Might be a good first Opinel. Go with the Inox blade though(in my opinion. Many will disagree though). The Carbon blades require more upkeep. :ahhh

I can not start with collecting watches :ahhh :ahhh
Work today, so serious beater watch was worn. Been using this as a work watch for over 10 years. I think this is the ninth band it's had.Divers make good beaters! I used to work at Lowe’s and I wore that one diver all the time, a few times I was moving shelving and smash, I’d be so afraid to look at it, and yet not even a scratch.. the one thing that I like is raised numbers on the bezel rather then just a flat color surface.

It’s a nice watch, a little big but come on it’s cool! Even though it’s BIG it still weighs nothing compaired to like a divers watch, and of course it’s great that it’s solar,, my only thing is all this technology is getting a little carried away, it’s a watch, what do you really need in it, to tell time and maybe a timer/chronograph, and maybe an alarm, all this other stuff is getting a little carried away,, I’m kinda getting to the point that I’d rather go old school and get a automatic rather then digital,, which I’m looking into.. something that tells time, the day, and the date, anything else just go find a phone,Went big today, besides its drizzling out..
JR
Awesome! :tu:
Love my GX-56BB (Japanese release, blacked out version) from the first day I got it. I have literally worn it ever single day and put it through the paces. It’s performed flawlessly and I love that it is solar powered. The size is quite large by normal standards even with larger watches being “in style” for the past few years, but after the first day or two the size felt great and I do not even notice the size any more than any other G-Shock I own. The only watch that I think would kick this one off my wrist is the 2018 Rangeman. Now that’s one amazing, and expensive G-Shock that I would love to get my hands on!

Thank you, Aloha!
Love the vintage of this watch.
While I really like watches its not a rabbit hole I'll likely fall into. These two I got for a extremely cheap price. The Wenger still need work on the crystal. It was unreadable and now I can actually see what time it is. The Jessop is a mechanical watch I think is super neat. Needs a leather strap at some point. I like it and I try to wear it often. That is definitely a good thing. Watches are high maintenance and costly. Who knows how many more MTs I would have collected if I didn't keep feeding the watch hobby. :ahhh :D
Switched from the two piece nylon to a lake house leather strap. Looks nicer and more comfortableInteresting band there, gustophersmob. It looks like the watch should have come with it. :)

Only 37mm this one is worth looking at (different colours available).
Less expensive, pretty much bomb proof. Simple and classic.
I've got one, had it for years. I got it serviced last year, new strap and it looks like new

Will be wearing this on Sunday. The Invicta Grand Diver Automatic again. :)
Why is that marko  :tu:Vostok: reliable mechanism (work horse),service time once in ten years according to manufacturer, it can work much longer without service I tested it,cheap parts when something need to be replaced, when you hold watch feels tank build, than when unscrew crown there is a felling tahat it would fall off,it won't,those are some cool characteristic, water resistant 200m,it means that you can actually dive with it (also tested) you can modify watch with different parts...
Very nice collection marko  :like:Thank you, some of watches were sold, some were given to friends and relatives because when you have 10 watches you can't were them all.Photos with planes are from aeroport where my skydive club is located.

Just curious, what are your thoughts on the invicta automatic divers? My local sam's club has an 8926 for $55, which seems like a great price, especially considering it has a Seiko movement.
I'm not 100% keen on the homage looks (or the look of the original submariner, really), but I'm wondering if its a good enough watch considering the small outlay of cash?

What's going on with the dial on your watch in the vicinity of 2 and 3? Or is it just a dog nose smudge on the crystal?

Both rear, what the heck did you do, burn rubber around the corner, smoking the tires, in a hurry to get to work? Or did the police throw one of those nail strips to get you to stop but missing your front? lol, dang, at least your ok..
JR
Ouch! All lugs, how the heck did that happen, I’ve had one snap off, or once a couple come loose, but all? Bad week but lucky! Both rear, what the heck did you do, burn rubber around the corner, smoking the tires, in a hurry to get to work? Or did the police throw one of those nail strips to get you to stop but missing your front? lol, dang, at least your ok..
JR
Well it was both tires on one side of a dually. Looked like something got wedge up in between them. This hasn't been my week. 3 days ago on another truck all the lugs broke off one rear side. I pulled over just in time before the wheels fell off!
On my wrist for 12+ years now.....Niceeeeeeeee

Ouch.:dwts:
I got a story for you guys. A few years ago...while doing dental work...my dentist coughed while freezing my upper teeth. When he sneezed, he had pushed the needle into my nasal cavity and released the freezing solution which immediately ran down my throat. He apologized but continued with the dental work. Meanwhile my body, devoid of some of the feedback began to tell my brain that I had stopped breathing despite my knowing that I was still breathing. It was something trying to fight the ensuing panic an hyperventillation. Yeah, that was an experience I hope to never go through again.

Not an every day watch for me. An interesting stat released earlier this year is that the sale of smart watches is declining in the 20 to 30 age group. They are finally working out that you don't need to be connected all the time
Well double that age and the fact that I run a Business and being able to decide whether to "Miss" calls and Emails and Texts works great for me,no going back now!
Never had a Vic watch. Are they as good as the SAKs?

Apple is very expensive but I do like
the iPad as I am now on my second one
I just wish that they would last longer before they stop updating them ???
I like my iPad mini as well, although the battery is going on mine.
They are possible to change yourself, but a bit of a PITA compared to an iPhone, because the screen is glued on and is easy to damage when removing it.
A heat pad usually helps with softening glue, which makes it easier to remove without damaging.
However the replacement battery is pretty inexpensive

Look for the GS (general service) watch CWC (obviously). They'll be priced between £100 and £500 depending on condition, who they were issued to etc.
Good grief! They've gone up in price! :o They were £40-£60 last I looked... that was probably about ten years ago though.
I've got the civilian version of the CWC (can't remember what it's called - I haven't got it on at the moment) and it's a great watch.

sweep is the motion of the second hand. Some tick per second...others have a more smoother motion that races around the face.

Gotcha. From listening, this one seems to tick roughly about 4 times per second. If you look closely you can see it in the second hand but at arms length it looks pretty smooth. Thanks, Clown!

The beads I wear are brutal on most watches. Doesn't effect the rolex much and the damasko’s cases are hardened in such a way that I haven't managed to scratch any of them.Indeed, the Rolex 904L does seem to withstand scratches quite well(from what I've read and personal experience polishing Rolex cases for a buddy of mine). Not sure what steel Damasko uses, but Rolex tends to use the 904L. Maybe Damasko uses something similar?

However, this watch made by the Tianjin Watch Factory is called the Chinese Airforce watch. It does however have a very good Lemania clone movement in it. For €180 it's pretty damn good value as well.

Can you tell the difference between Citizen and DB in build quality?Your favourite?
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
marko, they're both nearly identical quality-wise. I would probably give the Citizen Eco-Drive, a very slight-edge. This one wears lighter, and is smaller on the wrist. Pretty-much a hands-free movement running on sunlight, that keeps phenomenal time. The Deep Blue is running the NH35A Seiko; a self-winding movement. The movement is hack-able, and requires winding if not worn, or you live a sedentary life-style. It's a much bigger, heavier tool watch. I wear the DB more, so I guess it would be more favored.
Still rocking the Schauer:

Cool Incaflex Ray :like:Max:Thanks for the info. I have three Wyler watches and they are great time pieces.
Uses an innovative balance wheel design with two curved elastic arms that assist with shock absorbance to the balance wheel.
Fun fact: In December of 1956, as part of a publicity stunt, several Wyler watches were thrown from the Eiffel Tower, which was a 300 meter drop to showcase the durability of their watches. Apparently, they were all working perfectly afterwards.

I've wanted a Vic Automatic for some time now, and seeing Smashie's pics from his AirBoss here only made me want one more... ::)
My new toy came in today, so I gotta set it and test this guy out! :D

Love the look on that Citizen, the older I get, the more I appreciate those classic watches...Ditto!
Since when is a G-Shock, and especially a Frogman, nothing special...

I was thinking of getting a leather band, but one with a full backing called a bund strap,,
JR
Yeah huh, I mean I like the band but I guess I have a large wrist cause it only goes in the 2nd grommet, and is a pain to tuck the tip!
You could also go with a single pass NATO in leather

Yeah,,, I do that at least once a month,,,,, and it's always on a Monday ironically. We clean the house on weekends and my week day EDC always gets "put away" by my wife. Sometimes I forget to go on a search and rescue mission until after I've had to go through a day without my watch.
BUT!!!
I carried these two today. The banded Casio is my official work watch. The pocket watch is something I picked up and repaired over the weekend. I'm thinking about mounting it to the lid of my tool box so at least I will have something the next time I forget my EDD watch.
I love that pocket watch too! Good luck getting it running!
Def
It's already repaired. I mounted it on my toolbox lid today.

My favorite everyday watch: Casio Pro Trek PRW-6611Y-1CR solar atomic. The big, white hands and numbers are easy to see, and I am pretty much addicted to the atomic function setting the time for me every day.

That looks like something my blind butt could read!

Yes, they are very readable, partly the reason they were issued to the UK armed forces for so many years.Lol, I like the fact that it’s numbers and not just dots like most of mine,
As to your butt, I really don't want to know

Bought this 6900-1 as a work beater watch and seeing how it’s Saturday considered switching it out for something fancy and mechanical.I was thinking of getting something myself, but rather then digital something analog, but I didn’t want to give up the solar or the atomic, so I saw this one, a CASIO AWGM100B-1ACR "G-Shock" Solar Watch
Enjoy how comfortable it is and looking at the RCVD notification above the seconds gives me a weird satisfaction. Might stick with it a bit longer today.

Huge fan of solar atomic Casio. Nice to not think about battery changes or time changes.Exactly. I have two solar, and two atomic, yet one which is both!
Nice one Eric :like:
Hey here’s a question for any of you, is the atomic radio wave shutting down or is this just some stupid thing I heard? Cause I was really looking at another g-shock,
JR
Technically yes, although they keep finding money from somewhere to keep it running. :dunno:So technically it’s not even a point to get one cause if it shuts down you’ll have to set it, yet somewhere I did see one similar but it tapped off your iPad or phone instead, no not a apple..

Yes, the GA-B2100-1AER picks up the time via Bluetooth from your smartphone. There are others that do it, but this sprung to mind.Ok so I can link it to my iPad, cause I don’t have a phone, only the Mrs has one, Im just after a solar, atomic, analog, watch, but if the band is shutting down then it’s kinda pointless..
Picked this Seiko up a few weeks back. I love everything about it,,,, EXCEPT,,,,, the 7S26A movement. I did not know that you couldn't manually wind it when I bought it. I have since been educated.
Swapping the movement to an NH 35/36 (I can't remember which is the right one) is pretty simple if you take your time and have a few basic tools.

:like: Thanks Smashie. As it is I only wear the watch on weekends. While having my coffee on Saturday morning I open the back and manually wind it with a small screwdriver. It runs all weekend with that one wind. I will most certainly be looking into a movement change though. Thanks again!
That's a good looking watch sir!
