Title: Sheffield boxed set.
Post by: Chako on August 24, 2016, 03:28:53 PM
I spied this at an outdoor vendor at a local event. I have another one, but couldn't resist the price of this one.

Meet the Sheffield boxed set, full of cheap tools besmirching the good Sheffield name. Sadly, I am 100% certain nothing came from or is remotely related to Sheffield England.

What makes this kit a bit different, is the inclusion of a Swiss+Tech style mini multi-tool. You also get a GreatLite. It must be so, as it is written on the flashlight. Included are an assortment of knives and multi-tools. What a deal!

Wow! I just found a set just like that in our garage. The tools are total crapola, but at the time, I got it for the flashlight. The light was long gone from the box, but the rest of the tools were intact. This set must be about 10 to 12 years old.

I have one of the big folding knives in that box. It's the worst knife I think I've ever held.

I can imagine. Nothing says quality in this set.

Noticed a similar set at the flea market last weekend but it had a mini version of the bigger pliers instead of the Swiss tech tool.  Not sure it was Sheffield but if not, made by the same outfit I suspect.  Both pliers were take offs of the sog toolclip.

The only high quality piece in that set is the box!  :P

The set that comes with the PST knockoff and the tool that looks like a mini version of a PST... those two MTs aren't really that bad. Also, my set had that same folding knife. It's a tolerable beater blade. Took and holds a decent edge.

Any thoughts/comments on the IDL tool knockoff?

On this example, one arm is very stiff, and the other is very loose.  :ahhh

Welcome back Lynn...it has been a while.  :salute:

This reminded me that I had bought another Sheffield set a few years back at Walmart. I had to dig it out...and lo and behold, they aren't exactly the same.
