today is my last day of really loaded belt, going from 2 multis and 2/3 SAKs to just a PX and (as a backup, and only for times where pliers are needed) a Rebar.
The light shall remain the same.
It's gonna be a fun experiment :salute:
I´m not doing this after all, I´m having too much fun in the 111mm challenge and will complete that one first. The PX badge will have to be earned another time.
Off topic: Dutch Tooler´s initials always remind me of Dejah Thoris / Deety, one of the principal characters both in Burroughs´ Barsoom series and in Heinlein´s Number of the Beast. I hope I´ll never meet Dutch Tooler in real life, likely it would be a big disappointment :D
This should be a fun challenge!! I'll be following this one!

You know you need a Pioneer X Barry ... you can hear it calling you ....
I think so, but for a definite answer I believe I have to defer to our master of challenge rules, magentus... :pok:I'll wait for magentus official word then. In the meantime, my Day 1 entries. My PX in its sheath together with my pocket FL (Fenix LD02). Also, here it is with a skinned apple, which I eat 1-2 times a day (reason I bought a Pioneer Solo).

Day 3,
there was use for two of my gear goodies today, the two AAAs I had on me :climber:.
AAA light to find and retrieve our bag that the wing ripped off of our building (the bag is there for the birds) and had traveled some meters in away
and the AAA (Awesome Alox Awl) to install and create a stronger grabbing cord and attachment method
(https://i.imgur.com/0Ugf03h.jpg)
the blade was very sharp for cutting too
(https://i.imgur.com/QaWaFUg.jpg)
finally some coffee with the heroes to warm up after an accidented rescue mission in the cold
(https://i.imgur.com/Ps9TmeQ.jpg)
Another day, another rock. :salute:
Day three was rather boring as far as knife and tool usage, so I grabbed a shot of it in the ice on the hood of my truck when I went out to pickup dinner.

I've been out cycling today so the PX stayed at home. I guess I could get into trouble for having a non PX multitool in my saddle bag (I think it's a Crank Brothers job) but honesty is the best policy.
But PX is now in my pocket for the rest of the day

Agree, even the Rebar I have wasn't of any help. I eventually used a small crowbar I have to adjust the hole
Since the MTO PXs haven't reached our Philippine shores yet (boat in the middle of the Pacific methinks), I plan to use my ordinary PX for this.
Question: can I still carry my Spyderco Tenacious with my PX under this challenge? The Tenacious is exclusively and purely for self defense carry only.
I think so, but for a definite answer I believe I have to defer to our master of challenge rules, magentus... :pok:I'll wait for magentus official word then. In the meantime, my Day 1 entries. You're still good.
Typically rules of exclusion only apply to the official or first run through of a challenge.
Subsequent runs are more relaxed.
And as someone who has been through multiple sizable shakes in the last few years I can highly recommend you be prepared.
It's totally worth being ready.

Cheapest knife at hand? That looks like a CRKT M21. I´ve got one myself.
PS I don´t like the M21 because it has the AutoLAWKS feature. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, LAWKS is a second lock to secure the liner lock. It makes me wonder if I can trust liner locks in general (if it ain´t broken, don´t fix it). I have a couple M16s too, these have a manual LAWKS system and I like them only marginally better.

Day 21Had a similar situation today. My eyeglasses' left side arm got broken and I had to cut a sharp edge. The PX scissor can't cut steel so I took out my Rebar
It was bound to happen at some stage... a task the PX wasn't up to. :ahhh
On the pic below you can see major damage to my high-tech Japanese badge holder. Sorry, I am not at liberty to show you the other side :D
The damage consists in the triangular clip thing having bent open, and also a little bit in torsion, to a sufficient extent to just release one hole of the cylindrical wire attachment. The clip wouldn't let itself be pushed back.
I have valiantly tried to insert various PX tools to pry the clip open further, but did not have enough purchase to hold its other end, and I didn't want to use the blade for fear of dulling or denting it. Mini Tool had to come help, and also to bend the clip back into shape and close it.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone! I did get everything I wanted and more. The above watch was a gift from my wife, and I have a Microtech Siphon 2 in the mail, coming some time this week. The Spyderco is a Gayle Bradley 2.

Looks like a proper food challenge day today :tu:
Yeah, much busier than I have (with the PX, that is) - nice, TP :tu:
Day 29
On the penultimate day of this great challenge, time for a beauty shot again with just a touch ofunsharpness due to lens smudgingartistic application of soft-focus.
One will notice immediately the utter lack of marks, dents and other blemishes, even after and in spite of the tortures the PX has undergone during this harsh and protracted challenge. No doubt this is down to the superb build quality of the PX, as all things Victorinox. Either that, or I didn't use it all that much - it is fair to say that the needs for strenuous use of pocket tools have remained rather limited during this past month. One small mark you won't see in the picture appears near the flat end of the cap lifter, where I must have slipped on a screw - so now the PX is not brand-new anymore. However, all through the challenge, whenever not engaged in activity the PX has remained a faithful inhabitant of my front right jeans pocket, at hand for when the need arose.

Totally fun challenge, D_T, and I'll take your template to give some thoughts of mine about the PX, and put some pics I took these days but didn't post :salute: (long post below)
Extremely nice look and feel. I agree, there's something about the red Alox that the red cellidor lacks, both in feel (those grooved scales give a confident grip) and appeal (can't beat a worn alox, ::) much different from a worn and scratched cellidor :P)
also loved the strength and durability they provide, making it easy to pocket carry along tools, keys and banging around other stuff on pouches, sheaths and even among other metallic and tough objects :gimme:
Knife blade: I like the curve (that belly and shape lends itself to slicing) and the etching seems really durable. The sharp aggressive edge kills any organic food or material and slides through it, from oranges to weeds, herbs and thin branches
(https://i.imgur.com/7nTvvxr.jpg)
and won't corrode if you leave it stained or wet for a while unlike many other pocket knives :D
Scissors: once adapted to the nick (I had trouble at first, I admit ) they're the kind of scissors for precise, surgical cutting, clean shearing and digging with their sharp, pointy tips
(https://i.imgur.com/yNQeKnK.jpg)
Awl: thinner, better positioned and sharper than most competitor's awls, what aids in penetrating and piercing every kind of material, be it leather, wood, or plastic.
A very nice secondary "edge" when you don't want to mess your main blade, and perfect or knots
Can opener: minor screwing and can opening are the two best feats of this, but we cannot overlook its use as a scraper or "tearing device" to grab and rip plastic shells, film packaging or stubborn tape, grabbing it and pulling it with assurance
(https://i.imgur.com/SbdwpVE.jpg)
Bottle opener: I also suffered from slippage and not proper screw engagement with this, but as a prying tool (with the solid Alox scales giving confidence behind the torque) it excels, and for big screws like those in windows and big doors it's excellent and more than enough. I don't drink alcohol or Coke, but it opened two or three bottles this month with ease, as we're used to with Vic's openers ;)
Overall tool load: I'm satisfied with it, and wouldn't really add the much loves In-Line Phillips because of its thickness, this one is excellent as slim as it is, and other tools that I might use occasionally (Saw, being the most obvious one) can be found on other Alox like the Farmer.
I wouldn't give this awl for any other tool in the PX, it's marvelous, and since I rarely use the hook (and carry a multitool for that) and backside awl, chisel or screwdriver I'm totally satisfied with this.

Add to that a smartly placed lanyard hole ring, nub, protrusion) and it's ready to go into your EDC system and handle most things you can encounter.
The Alox farmer (my first Alox) was a revelation, the PX was a love at first sight. Thumbs up to this tool!! :ahhh
