Title: Monrogue's Realm
Post by: Monrogue on August 05, 2016, 02:47:37 AM
Well I finally decided to start my own little thread for the fun of it ;)

I'll start it with some pics of my precious per the Banana Man's request....
(These two pics courtesy of Syph)
(http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u649/khtibbetts/MTs-SAKs/IMG_1935_zpsmntryyha.jpg) (http://s1326.photobucket.com/user/khtibbetts/media/MTs-SAKs/IMG_1935_zpsmntryyha.jpg.html)
(http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u649/khtibbetts/MTs-SAKs/IMG_1932_zpspzr6vxzl.jpg) (http://s1326.photobucket.com/user/khtibbetts/media/MTs-SAKs/IMG_1932_zpspzr6vxzl.jpg.html)

It's a fairly robust toolset.  This would actually be the 2nd version (I may be known for having difficulty making up my mind ::))

I have the pliers to act as beefy tweezers, etc.  They've come in handy on occasion.  The metal file has also been a little handy, but I'm discovering that I could possibly do without it   Of course the scaler has proven to be a favorite implement of mine.  It's a great misc tool :tu:  I replaced the cap lifter with the nail file, as I wanted both that and the awl.  I'm sort of missing the cap lifter though, and don't use the nail file as much now that I have the sweet glass file in my Swisscard.  It also has the Vic shield scale on both sides as I am not a fan of the engraving plate scale.

I'm loving the gradual wear developing on the scales :tu:

Thanks for viewing, and I'm hoping to have something cool to post later....

Of course the scaler has proven to be a favorite implement of mine.  It's a great misc tool :tu:

Can you please explain more about what you use the scaler for, other than fish scales? I have never had a knife with a scaler, used a spoon edge before I learned to fillet my fish slabs
Maybe, me can have a scaler badge, just like the hook badge to generate ideas.

TIA

BTW what are the red liners made of ??? They are a lovely contrast with the black scales :dd: :D

Actually I don't use it for fish as I don't go fishing.  It's good as a back scratcher, which is my primary use.  The ruler is handy at times.  I also magnetized the tip.  It's good as a poking/prodding tool as well.  Also a fork, as Jersey Devils tends to use it ;)

There is a scaler badge too, and I have it :)

I either removed a bit too much from the lock notch on the file, or the part that keeps it solid in the lock tab was already a bit rounded on the PST II file.   I don't recall doing anything to that particular spot, so I'm not sure   It's a bit wobbly, and comes unlocked when folded in with a little force, but really shouldn't be a big deal.

Hey there Monrogue,
Have you thought about swapping the nail-file for the caplifter and using the saw/file as a nail file instead?
Cheers!

Yes, but I'm also not sure I need the metal file, although I like having the saw function as it seems like it could saw a variety of materials.  The file is rather aggressive for my nails though.

The MechaRogue was designed as a standalone SAK carry really, hence the robust toolset.  However,  whenever I leave home, I carry a SAK/MT combo, among other items.  So the only time it's a standalone carry is evenings at home, and I have rare need for such a loadout, especially since I have SAKs and MTs strategically stashed throughout my house ;)

Thanks man.  Yeah. I'm thinking that may be why it doesn't stick solidly in the lock.  I really don't think I did anything to that spot, plus I would've had to take a fair amount off to shape it that way, and it took time to remove what I did in the other spot, so I think I'd remember if I did it ;)

You might be right, there might not quite be enough metal where it's rounded to lock solid. Probably good enough for filing though   :tu:

They are red anodized liners.  It's my favorite color scheme, which is another reason I love it ;)

Thanks man :salute:  Yeah, it should be fine.  In most cases that I file anything, I tend to have a finger against the file depending on the angle and whatnot.  Sawing should be fine too.  It just bugs me a little as everything else locks fine.

I'm still torn on the whole Nite-Ize clip issue.  It's a good clip, but it's rather annoying for gripping the tool.  It protrudes from the tool more than I like.  The tip also sticks out and worries me that it will catch or scratch something.  I wish LM had started the removable clip with this model.  That clip is great.

Back on the Rebar mod:  I forgot to mention the difficulty in deploying the file.  With no nail nick on the exposed side, it's tough.  It doesn't likely help that I had added the mini bit driver in place of the lanyard ring, and I think the bit driver is a teensy bit thicker, so it's tight in there anyway.  It's also possible the PST II file is slightly thicker than the Rebar file, but I'm not sure.

So I have to deploy all the middle tools so that I can get the file out.  Not a big deal for me I suppose since I use my MTs only occasionally.

Could try cutting a nick in the end of the file similar to the new Waves file  It is tapered so that may not help ???

I decided to use the file from my old original PST to check to see if it would lock. I didn't want to use my diamond file but they are the same profile.

Notch

Lock up

(http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k115/asc67/Files%20leatherman/DSC09685_zpsidh08fzv.jpg) (http://s86.photobucket.com/user/asc67/media/Files%20leatherman/DSC09685_zpsidh08fzv.jpg.html)

I made the notch just a hair wider than the Rebar file taking a bit more off the back where the rounded portion is.  The file does lock up
with just a little play. It is a bugger to deploy. I think it would work better to switch positions with the the knife blade. You would then have the cut out in the handle for the file and the nail nick would still be on the right side for the knife blade.

So it does have less material to cause it to be loose.  I'm not crazy then ;)  Does yours come unlocked with some force?  Mine does lock, but it doesn't take much to force it unlocked without releasing the lock.

I couldn't get it to come unlocked. The amount of wiggle was just a bit more than the Rebar file. I wonder if you were to fine tune your notch a bit at the back if it wouldn't lock.   :tu:

I wondered if I may have removed a bit too much from that notch.  It gets hard to tell while doing the cutting in such a small spot.

I had wondered if changing places with the knife would make it more accessible  I would only be worried if it was a knife blade :o and then it isn't an extremely big deal since the other handle should prevent it from closing on your fingers

I think only if you rounded the back even more. If you removed too much from the front of the notch it would cause the file to open too far but I don't think it would affect the lock up. If you look at my picture you can see I purposely created a nice 90 degree angle at the back of the notch.  That is where the lock engages.

I also noted that the Rebar file notch was a little undersized on mine. I opened it up a bit and now have a better lock than from the factory. So I think unless you went past your tracing lines from the rebar file you are probably still slightly undersized in your notch.

Maybe you can take a picture of your file when you get home. Or at least compare it to my pic.   :tu:

I'll have to check it out.  Probably will whenever I decide to swap it with the knife blade, if I do.  I'm not a fan of taking all the tools out as it can be a pain to get them back in.  I may try tomorrow.  I checked it out, and it does look like the back of the notch may be slightly rounded.

Well I straightened out the back area of the lock notch on the file.  Forgot to get a pic though.  It now stays locked, but there is considerable play unfortunately.  Not a big deal functionally I don't think, but it bugs me nonetheless.  Everything is tight in that handle too, and I have to deploy the file to easily get the middle tools out.  They're almost nail breakers if I don't.  Oh, and I swapped the knife and file, so the file does deploy more easily as I have a better grip on it, and the knife deploys just fine as well.

Glad you got it worked out as well M        Too bad about the play and that the tools are hard to deploy. Maybe you can find a happy medium between easier deployment and the wiggle of the file.

Anyway good for you for going for it, that's how we gain confidence and learn    :hatsoff:

Mine weren't new, but not heavily used either.  That Rebar I had since it first came out, but the Wave I'd only had a few months.  Either tool is great on its own, but after seeing another member do a hybrid mod, I got curious and had to do a couple.

A little off topic in relation to our tools, but this is my thread, so I will post in here about whatever I feel like ;p. That is as long as Mags and Poncho allow with their Mod powers ;)

Since we finally got into our house a couple months ago, I've been able to get back into working out.  My equipment had been in storage for almost two years, and I had seriously slacked off on it for a couple years or more before that.

Ten years ago I got into it, and really enjoyed it.  I was dedicated to it for the next couple years, but then got married and gradually fell off the wagon.  Once we had a baby, it pretty much stopped, although it mostly had anyway.  It's a discouraging feeling to notice the results from that hard work gradually fading.

I wasn't in great shape anyway as I could have been losing fat, but really mostly built muscle.  Well, I'd gotten north of 250lbs, which isn't too good for a guy at 5'6" even if I did have some muscle mass.  Well I've been at it for 6 or 7 weeks now, and have gone down to 241lbs, although I'm doing no cardiovascular (had to give our treadmill away as there was no room for it), nor have I really changed diet much.  We do eat less junk, but partially due to limited money now.

It's encouraging though, and it is great to once again feel and see my muscles coming back, and I've already felt an increase in strength.  It's amazing how the body adapts, even as I approach middle age (38 in a week).  I just pray I can stick with it, as it can be difficult to want to bother at times, but I never regret a workout, and that soreness is a welcome feeling afterwards.

Anyone else into working out?  I know there are a few members who do based on the workout thread.  Ok, sorry for the looking pist, but I felt like sharing ;)

Thanks for sharing. I was a runner all my younger years. Cross country, rec ball, but was never a gym guy. I've always had a high metabolism thanks to being active my whole life but after my first car, college, and now married with kids, the "dad bod" is here  I want to work out more but having a manual labor job makes it hard to find motivation after work. Glad to hear you've been cutting back a little. They say eating habits are 80℅ of the battle. The biggest thing beside weight is health. Some big guys I know are actually the most healthy.

I hear you on the dad bod, although I've struggled with that all my adult life, even before kids, lol.  Running is tough for sure, so kudos on that :tu:  I'm not a cardio/athletic type at all, but I always did enjoy a good vigorous walk.  I used to do that as a warmup to my workouts.  I lost a lot of weight walking and dieting in my early 20's due to my doctor scaring me into it.  I worked at a takeout place and of course loved the fried food ;).  Cholesterol was high, and he told me I was a heart attack waiting to happen.  Surprisingly now I'm much healthier in that respect, even if I don't look like it.  I don't eat like that though either, so I'm sure that helps.  Dieting is definitely the major piece I need to get in check to complement the workouts.

My metabolism has always sucked, which makes it even harder, but I know it boosts with more activity.  Of course age doesn't help either.  At least your job probably helps some.  My office joblimits me there, but it's also probably the most physical job at the bank.  Thankfully I'm not just sitting at a desk for 8 hours.  I get out frequently most days, carrying various supplies among the 3 buildings.  I'll also do some push-ups whenever I can when down in the basement in my building.  Just a quick 20 or so.  That's one way I can tell my strength's increasing.  Push-ups are hard for a heavy guy, lol.

Thanks for sharing as well, and for the convo buddy :salute:

Hey Poncho :)  I've been fortunate in that my BP has usually been fine over the years, despite my shape.  I was also a full time smoker from age 20 up until 4 years ago.  I say full time because I still struggle with it off and on.  Summer months are hard because I can just go outside no problem, but I try to resist.  Like Demel said, sometimes the bigger guys can be just as healthy overall as guys who look to be in better shape.  Heck my sister has the high metabolism and struggles to gain weight, and I'm the opposite.  Yet she's had more health issues than me, including a collapsed lung on 2 occasions.  She's the frail one, and I'm the solid one I guess, even though to look at us, I would be expected to be the unhealthy one.  I'm thankful for that at least.  Good luck with your efforts to get in shape man :tu:

I don't really workout but I walk everyday and my work has always been physical. I'm lucky that I have a pretty good metabolism. I'll turn 50 next year and I weight the same as I did in high school  5'10" 165 pounds. I do use barbells once in a while and should probably start doing that again regularly.

Thanks Steve.  I do enjoy it, which helps.  Some don't enjoy exercise, which makes it even harder to get motivated, so I'm thankful I at least like it, once I get going that is.  Once I get a few minutes into it, I'm good to go until I choose to stop, which is usually around an hour.  You're blessed to weigh the same as you did in your youth.  I haven't weighed that low my entire adult life, although with extra muscle, that won't happen anyway.  Still, I need to burn some serious fat to get to an ideal weight and shape.

For some reason I don't carry it much.  I think it's because it almost makes pairing it with a SAK unnecessary.  It's basically a Swisschamp in plier MT form, minus the magnifier.  A Compact is a good companion for it though, or my Swisscard.  I think I just prefer LMs as their tools are different than SAKs and so they pair well with one.  I can't allow the Spirit to make my precious MechaRogue unnecessary ;)

The butter blade is the shizzle for dizzle - I like what you said about the Spirit being a Swisschamp, I wanted a Swisschamp but it turns out I already have one!

One of my favourite SAK tools is the mag glass - I pair Pikachu with the Spirit so it's not a total overlap. I can justify that.

I like your realm Mo. You are a kind and just ruler.  :salute:

Nice! The butter blade is something I would try and incorporate into a SAK if I was rich enough to use a Spirit as a donor - I love it. My Pikachu is kinda like your Yeoman - it's a Passenger with an in-line awl (which I prefer to the Spirit awl).   :salute:

I hope this isn't frowned upon in Monrogues realm but here is a pic of Pikachu with my Spirit.

I wish Vic would replace the small blade with the awl as standard - it's such a useful tool.

Get some yellow scales - I wish I had more - they're so jolly.

Right, a Compact, or Yeoman, or in your case Pikachu are good pairings for the Spirit, or Swisstool.  Thanks for the kind words my loyal subject ;)

I hope this isn't frowned upon in Monrogues realm but here is a pic of Pikachu with my Spirit.

I wish Vic would replace the small blade with the awl as standard - it's such a useful tool.

Get some yellow scales - I wish I had more - they're so jolly.

Pics from all are welcome :)
I think the awl would be a good alternative to the small blade.  I like it, and it has more uses than just a blade :tu:

Nope, this is just the normal spirit xc... Had it  laser graphed to make it more personal... A few friends have the spirit too...

The Road Tour edition has the RT logo etched on the Spirit X blade and I think comes in black ice finish...

Ok, I sacrificed my other PST II to try the file mod for my Rebar again.  I'm pleased with the results this time.  It's still tight in that handle (notice the scuffs on the side of the large flathead), but it locks well, and has far less play than the previous file.  It doesn't lock straight vertically, but it's not bad.  I think if I took a little more off the front area of the lock notch, it may fix this, but I didn't want to risk too much after the results last time, plus I don't have any more PST II files as backup.

If it please your Majesty, I would advise against it. Taking advice from 2 advisors is inadvisable. It only leads to bloodshed, and quite often, your own. If your Majestic Royalness deems it fit I will stand down in place of this new upstart cur, but as a wise man (Freddy Mercury) once said 'There can be only one'.

We went out into the woods behind our house to do a little exploring, and came across an interesting scene.

I don't know what animal(s) it was.  There were several jaw bones, so I assume multiples, but only one skull and spine/ribs.  Not sure if the orange thing is a deer tag or something.  Interesting though.  Looks like it's been there a long time.

I carried the original Schrade Tough Tool today.  It's certainly an interesting tool.

I like it, especially the pliers.  It's sort of awkward to hold though, and the orientation of the tools doesn't help.  It's a solid tool though, and a great piece for my collection.  I like having a variety of MTs and companies represented in my collection.

Actually I carry it like my other MTs- in the rear pocket next to my wallet.  It is bulky, but its shape allows it to rest vertically and stays in place without tipping over awkwardly like some of my others do.

I haven't seen him for months, though there has been a lot of crashing around at night and a trail of banana skins leads to your chambers

Cthulu will help bring chaos rather than order to your realm Sire if you sign one of Nates contracts. I decided to remove the plain blade from my modded Rebar so that it wasn't so crowded.  I really don't use it anyway, and prefer the serrated blade in my MT for most uses.  I did have to put the spacer back in, but it is much better now :tu:

Just the screw.  I ordered a replacement clip and it came with the screw.  It fit perfectly, but didn't go fully in due to the clip.  Loctite has solidly bonded it though.

I am excited to carry the G1 Wave now that it's got that clip on it.  Next month's challenge is Obi's discontinued one I believe, so that's perfect.  I ordered another clip to replace the Nite-Ize clip on my first G1 Wave.  So glad this worked :)

This clip is so unobtrusive to the grip, which is much better.  The Nite-Ize clip is not as comfortable in hand, but is still a good clip.  Mine is starting to loosen though, which I think is due to back pocket carry, and sitting on it.

Yeah I did, but thanks for the suggestion guys :salute:  That was the only thing I could think to do.  Perhaps I could heat it longer.  There's no give at all in them.  At least it worked on one of my Waves, but I wanted both versions with a clip (older G1 and newer G1).

I've managed to revise my MechaRogue on my own....a simple one, but a first for me:  swapped the nail file out for a cap lifter.
(http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u649/khtibbetts/MTs-SAKs/20160926_230354_zps8bdguvvf.jpg) (http://s1326.photobucket.com/user/khtibbetts/media/MTs-SAKs/20160926_230354_zps8bdguvvf.jpg.html)

I would possibly still use the nail file more frequently, but I've had occasions where I could have used a cap lifter in some form.  Plus the metal file will work in a pinch.  I have various SAK nail files around, so it's not critical to have it on the MechaRogue really.

Yeah I was nervous to do it, but it was the first layer, so I didn't have to mess with much, or adjust the pin lengths.  Now if I were to go deeper, or remove a layer, that would be tricky.  It is nice to know that I can switch it back if I change my mind though, which happens every so often ;)

I second the idea of your thoughts on each tool individually and even if it took months to do it all in your time then still be worth it :like:

I'll start off my MT thought session with my Gerber MP600 Pro Scout.  It's slightly customized in that it has the large flathead in place of the can opener.  I put BO tools in the SS body for a cool dual color scheme.  It also has a sweet blade courtesy of Zman :salute:
(http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u649/khtibbetts/MTs-SAKs/20161008_141707_zpsg9h6szbh.jpg) (http://s1326.photobucket.com/user/khtibbetts/media/MTs-SAKs/20161008_141707_zpsg9h6szbh.jpg.html)

This is probably my favorite Gerber.  The Diesel is nice too, but it's a bit heavier and the flicking action isn't as smooth for me.  The flicky pliers is one of the main reasons I like this MT.  However, as a result of that design, the tools aren't as convenient to access.  For my limited use/needs, this isn't a huge deal, which keeps it in my top carry group.  Still, I miss the versatility of other MTs with butterfly opening handles that can be extended for more reach and other versatile uses.

It is a good quality MT.  The tools all seem solid, but they really don't get put to the test with me.  It's sort of bulky, but slim at the same time, and deceptively light due to it's design.  It carries decently in my rear pocket next to my wallet, in part due to the shape.  It doesn't tip over like others do if there is enough space next to my wallet in some pants I wear.

This is probably one of the ones I carry the least out of my primary picks.  Not because it's a bad tool by any means, but the design lacks a bit of the versatility that has proven useful to me in the past with other MTs.

I hacked my Reave tonight.  I just swapped the outside PE blade for a SE since I use that more on my MTs.  Then swapped the inside SE for a PE.

This is a good hybrid MT.  It has the best of both worlds so to speak.  I get a good OHO blade, and some good inner Rebar tools, and the pocket clip :tu:

So I added the other Wingman/Sidekick clip I got to my Supertool since I couldn't get another G1 Wave apart.  It didn't go as smoothly as I expected, but with a bunch of Loctite it finally took.  I also just got an older Supertool with the saber point blade and put it into this one.  I forgot to get a pic of that, but will do so tomorrow.  I hope this will make it easier to carry as I really like this MT.

Thanks buddy :)  It is a good clip.  The issue though is that the screw only went in part way and I couldn't force it any further.  I stripped two drivers and partially stripped the screw.  So I put the Loctite to it and let it sit overnight.  It seems solid now, but I wish I could've gotten it tighter without the glue.  It got messy as you can probably see in the pics.  The file and large flathead got stuck from glue running into that side of the handle, but I was able to pry them free.

It's easy to say that from your exhalted position your Highness.

As it is I am having to work hard to quell the rumours of a certain Royal scandal that has been mooted on a different thread. As you know Sire, discretion is my middle name (between Conquistador and Explosion) but this is a pernicious little rumour that is spreading faster than I can stamp it down. I may have to request for permission to act with extreme prejudice and call Martial Law.

Now if only I could get a handle on my diet/nutrition, I probably would see better results.  It's taken 4 or so months to lose 20lbs, but I'd like the weight loss rate to be a little higher.  This is only by dedication to my workouts, which is good, but I know I could do better if I improved my diet a bit.

True.  It can be tough to maintain dedication to a workout routine for sure.  I think making and sticking with dieting changes is tougher though, at least for me.  It involves more willpower in a sense.  I do enjoy working out though, so that helps.  I don't know if many enjoy dieting really ;)

Well while trying to tinker around with my MechaRogue, I ended up pulling the center pivot out a bit.  The screw was stuck right in, and it was coming out, or so I thought.  It was the pivot instead, and I can't get it back in right.  This means my precious will be sidelined until I can get it sent back to the SAK surgeon to be fixed :(

Maybe you could quell those mutinous rumblings with some sort of Royal GAW?

Yes, loyal advisor, I would like that very much ;)
I would not be so bold to suggest I have the skills of Sir Syph however.  I can see how much time and effort goes into that kind of work though, especially doing it all by hand.  I see how he has made it a full time job for sure.

News Update. The Court Jester and I have managed to calm the public down - with a mixture of dancing bananas and a distraction in the form of salacious gossip I spread around of goings on aboard the U Boat Sire. Luckily the hoi polloi are always on the lookout for the next sexy scandal and they have found their latest fix in the saucey love triangle developing between Medical Bill, Nurse Fanny Payne and the soon to arrive Ms Pansy Bjorn.

It is my view that you and your pecadilloes are yesterdays news and that, provided you maintain a low profile in the boudoir department, you are in the clear. A close shave My Leige.

Haven't posted in here for a while....been playing Middle Earth:  Shadow of Mordor lately.   Yes, I tend to be a little late getting these games, but after a couple years it's easier to tell if a game was ood, plus it gets an ultimate or game of the year edition.  So it can be smart to wait ;)  Anyway, great game.  It's a blast to play and pushed Skyrim aside for the time being.  I don't think this game will last several months like Skyrim, but I've still got plenty to do to last me several weeks or more.

Also, I had ordered a CRKT Bivy and it arrived today.  It reminds me of my Buck Xtract sort of, but a bit beefier, especially the pliers.  The blade is interestingly shaped, but I like it.  The whole tool is a bit bulky, but that allows for the beefier pliers, which are fun to deploy.  The back tools are ok, but the lock release can be a bit stubborn it seems.  It also has a pocket clip, which will help.  The Xtract doesn't, so it's not as easy to carry for me.  Overall it seems decent, and I'll give it some carry time :tu:

I like it.  It's a fun fiddle factor MT.  However, it lacks the versatility of a butterfly opening MT.  I can see this ending up like my Xtract, which does not get carried.  It does have the pocket clip though, which increases it's chances a bit.  I did weigh it at work today, and it came in at 7.6oz, which is quite hefty for a limited tool set.  The Rebar weighs less and has much more to offer.  I do enjoy the pliers though.

The blade came very sharp.  I really dig it.  The whole tool is just so bulky.  I mean my G1 Wave is slimmer and offers so much more, so it's going to be hard to want to carry the Bivy after the newness wears off.  I would keep it handy for fiddle factor though ;)

I think this is a neat tool.  I really like the looks of it.
It's funny because I wasn't a big fan of the PPP, but this one just has something about it.  Outside tools is a big plus.  The nail nicks aren't that helpful, but I can get the short tools out by pulling out the jeweler's driver or can opener.  Each of these either pulls the other tools out a bit, or allows more space to reach them:

The protractor is a neat addition, not that I really have a need for it, but cool nonetheless.  I also like how the gears are not an issue digging into my palm, thanks to the bit driver setup, which was an issue  had with the PPP.
The handle splay is still an issue though, but less of a big deal to me now compared to my thoughts on it originally with the PPP.
I've found in most cases that I don't need the pliers open to max width, so the splay isn't as much of a factor now.  It's still not my preference, but I can live with it.

Part of what drew me to it was the pocket clip.  However, the tool is light enough that it can ride next to my wallet no problem.  It will be good for my jeans though.  I don't like how high it rides though, at least at work, so I may just let it sit next to my wallet.  I wouldn't mind removing it as I think that would slightly improve the looks for me, but I will likely leave it be.

My other main issue is that the handles can't be extended like with the Rebar or Supertool, which has been handy for me in the past.  However, with as little as I really use my MTs, this isn't a huge issue, just a personal preference.  I think that's it for my thoughts for now.....

But if he's part of the team we need to know a bit more about him. What if I bring the doughnuts in on 'Doughnut Wednesday Morning' only to find out he has a wheat allergy? What if Poncho and I launch into our version of 'Summer Lovin' from the hit musical 'Grease', only to discover that Bludgeon hates 'Grease' and only listens to 'Bachman Turner Overdrive'? This would not make for a happy group.

These little details oil the engine that is 'Team Mo'.

Got me a Gerber Octane a couple days ago.  This is one I've wanted off and on for quite a while, but never got it.  It has two key features I like, at least for convenience:  one hand deployable knife and pliers.  The downside is that it loses the versatility of butterfly opening handles.  I don't think it's possible to get all three features in one MT though.  It's light, so that helps.  Not a robust MT, but honestly, I only occasionally use my MTs, and most times it's for the OHO blade or pliers, so the Octane scores points there.  That package opener is wicked sharp too.

I initially thought the angled position of the pliers would be awkward, but they may be handy for certain tasks.  I actually kind of like them.  Thy seem like a slightly smaller version of the Flik's pliers.  The wire cutters aren't the best, but I don't exactly cut wire typically, so whatever.

Just returned my MechaRogue to original scale theme, at least the front one.  I left the black screws on the back as they all were flush with the scale.  The middle black screw on the front stuck out just slightly, and the black ones are rougher feeling.  Syph's SS screws seem almost polished and negate that feeling.  Also, even though I love the black scale with red shield, it felt rougher in comparison to Syph's triple anodized scale.

Hey all, after weeks of teasing, time for the proper reveal of my updated TiRogueneer....even though I already posted pics elsewhere....

Think I'm going to shorten the name to TiRogue actually.  Anyway, now sporting bare Ti scales with a pattern resembling steel steps, which is cool.  I had the pliers removed to slim it down and reduce weight.  It's considerably thinner than the MechaRogue, and a bit lighter.

Awesome TiRogue...

Amazing how much thinner it is... I assume the scales are thinner than alox and 91mm blades are also thinner than 93mm ones?

Very cool Mons 8) Thanks for all the pics and the fanned pics of the tools :tu:  The symbol is very cool looking as well  and I don't guess I have ever heard of the horn :tu: I :like: it though :salute: :D Is the corkscrew/phillips and less the pliers the only tool differences

Looking now I also see the E-blade in place of the inline awl ;) :D Anything else  Still a very nice and shiny new mod 8) :like: Congrats

Thanks buddy.  I hadn't heard of the symbol either, until I Googled Christian symbols.  The Eblade was already there in place of the regular small blade from the original mod a couple years back.
