Title: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: Charger on June 10, 2010, 01:10:42 AM
Well now that I had to resign from the Spirit Owners Club, I find myself in need of the feeling of belonging, so to sooth my own restless soul, I have created a safe haven that I believe will not be left by myself anytime soon.

Who are we?
The few and proud who own a little piece of multitool history.  from the great tool selection, to the rolled edges, to the quirky locks, this tool has a personality and character unmatched by most other tools.

So how many of us have a pulse hidden away?

Pictures are mandatory to join. :twak:

I love the pulse! The phillips is AMAZING.  Fits everything.  Scissors are good (as good as MT scissors I have seen). I like the tool load out, and the size of the tools.  For me, the vic spirit just felt like an SAK that unfolds into bluntish pliers. Brilliant quality, but just didn't feel right to me.  Not tool like.  too refined for my rugged life style...pfff,  No matter what, there is nothing bad about the spirit, just a preference.  I imagine a full swisstool would suit me better than the spirit.

But the Pulse is just awesome.  I like the lock system, very secure.  Of course robertson bits are always a downside to a non-bit driving MT for me, however I am looking at getting a little something to drive screws with.

I haven't been this excited by a multi since my Charge!  OK enough from me, lets let someone else show the love!

Love the Pulse; compact, comfortable, "stand alone" tool selection, solid locks, I even like the slight rattle they make.  :D

The Pulse is one of Leatherman's best tools.   The old style leather belt holster is quality, too.  I carry it in rotation with a Victorinox Spirit for EDC.

I recently bought a pulse to replace my lost fuse, and to be honest (I know, wrong place to say), I think I prefer the fuse, except of course for the awesome file in the pulse.

I guess I'm in...  :D

I actually just got this today.  Odd little story. Doing some title work way out of state, and running a real beast of a title.  (The owners were...colorful, to say the least.)  To make up for it, my good friend, the supercool land agent, volunteered to give me a tour of the actual property.  Fairly rural area.  Beautiful drive.  While out there, we stopped at the little general store which part of the family owned.  Cool little place, of just the type you don't see any more.  In the back, they had a little hunting & fishing section.  As I was wandering about, I looked in one of the cases, and there it was.  NIB.  Leather sheath, papers, everything.

I did actually fight myself on it.  But I made the mistake of having one of the girls in the store get it out of the case for me.  That settled it.  It's mine now.   :multi:

That's all right mate, the Fuse certainly has some advantages over the Pulse no doubt.  On balance though it's the Pulse that wins out for me.

'Fraid not. It's a donor that one, having given parts to Chrissy's modded Kick, a couple of PSTs and probably some other restored tools. It wasn't in great shape, in fact I got as "parts".

The handle date codes are 0201 and 0401. Gotta ♥ the hook/tip file groove. (http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/ab66/Xelkos/Xemoticon/Dance_til_ya_can__t_no_moe_by_de_Mote.gif)

Careful you don't get any blood on the thing mate. :twak:

That one does look a bit 'owie' though. :-\

Don't know about the file, mine certainly doesn't have the hook groove.  I do have one on my PST II though so I'd say it's an older feature (if any have the groove at all ).  I'm sure there is someone who can answer better. :)

No groove in mine, date codes are: 0401 and 0801.  So it would seem the change happened mid way through 2001.

Anyone else want to jump in with some extra dates?

Could any of you fine lads and lasses please show me how you go about opening the scissors on your Pulses? It's the implement that gives me the most pain combined with clumping... :-\ I mean, is there some better/cleverer way than "bring out the clump of tools, push the rest of the clump back in watching not to cut yourself, bring the scissors to the full open position, push the rest of the clump back in (since it opened up again during the last step)"?

I keep my left thumb over the tip of the knife, grab the nail nick on the scissors with my right thumb, and when I get the "clump" out(consisting of the scissors and two flatheads) I push the flat heads back in with my index finger as I pull the scissors out.  It is no more time consuming than using an SOG PL, and I really prefer the pulse so I forget about the clumping.
Title: Re: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: Nikos on November 25, 2010, 08:04:28 PM
I only own a PT-540 from the SOG side but I know what you mean. Still, I can't see how people use tools such as a Wave or Charge or Spirit or other non-clumper and then go back to a Pulse/ST. Mind you, I'm not whining or anything. I just feel I'm missing something obvious as there is a lot of love for the Pulse and although I really like its form factor and tool load out, mine lives in a drawer mainly for this reason... :-\
Title: Re: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: Threeme2189 on November 25, 2010, 08:46:13 PM
I don't really notice it, it's just another part of using the tool.
And if it weren't for tool clumping there's no way I would be able to get the philips screw driver out!
I too hold the knife in, pull the "clump" out part of the way, then I grab the scissors from both sides, push the screw drivers back in and pull the scissors out all of the way.

Congrats!
I have the Pulse and its big brother, the ST 200. The Pulse was only my second multitool; I bought it to replace my PST to curb the blood loss.

It is, indeed, like a slightly larger PST II by virtue of having the same tools with the addition of them locking open. I can post a pic tonight of the Pulse, an original Wave, and a new Wave together if you like.

The pulse is a great tool, with a nice selection in a slim package.
The locks take a bit of getting used to.
Here's a tip if you have adequate finger nails:
Use them to push the locks from their edge instead of using a finger on the outer grooves, it's much easier that way :tu:

How do you guys release the locks? Do you let it 'snap' back to position? I like the unusual locks but the knocking sound worries me. I tend to unlock the tools the Supertool method to avoid that. Or I release it gently.

Here's mine

I had to think about how I let go of the locks, seems I gently guide them closed part way then let go.

Yes that seems like it would limit any damage done (though I don't expect damage at all). On the topic, I was wondering if anyone has seen a damage locking mechanism... the pivot at the slider seem like it is subjected to a lot of pressure!

You're right Zed! :tu: In fact, I bought it to be used on my G-Shocks. I went through many shades of red before deciding on this one. Must have looked funny for a guy testing nail varnish  However I changed my mind later after seeing a bezel that had damage from Goo-Gone (maybe too much?). So it was just sitting there until today.

Anyway, on steel it looks a lighter red in real life, more like undried (liquid) blood. It is a Pulse after all. ;)

I also read that some people uses china crayons but unfortunately I do not have any on hand. I would really like to know whether there is any difference between the two, in terms of resistance to rubbing off, or even corrosion!

I'm thinking of doing it in blue next.  :multi:

First a belated Happy Birthday to the Pulse Owners Club...!!!

I have wanted to join this club but I only recently became eligible pics below.

From reading this thread I wonder what the oldest date codes are for the Pulse...it seems a few of us have handles with 0900/1000 date code pairs but nobody has posted anything earlier.  The groove and non groove on the file is interesting too.  I am curious about the oldest Pulse and the latest Pulse out there.

I'm very glad I re-read this thread, I was considering using or selling my older Pulse since I figured I did not need 2 but now since it has the grooved file and the 0900/1000 date code pair it is going to become a shelf queen.

Here are my required Club pictures along with their big brother.

Thanks that is very assuring.  :tu:

I looked around for blue yesterday while at a departmental store but they didn't have what I want. They only had those fancy ones with glitter or pearly colours. I want something more like electric blue.

Then I came across things like base coat and top coat, and it reminded me of how car paint is applied. Then I thought, hmmm... maybe applying a top coat will help to protect the colour from being stained by dirt and dust from use? I didn't buy it though. Just thinking aloud.

Yea, I have beat the tar out of my pulse and it is still kicking.  I was afraid of hurting the locks early on as well, but they are solid as a rock.  Use without caution!

I recalled mine were stamped with 2000 dates, but couldn't recall the month. Sure enough; they were both 1100.

Send it to me for a week or two, once I've put a little 'work' into it you won't feel so bad. :D

Honestly I can somewhat sympathise, I always got the same way when buying a shiny new SAK or MT.  The first tiny little blemish always makes me sad, but it's never stopped me using one.  Keep in mind it's still a tool (a damn good one at that) and it's whole purpose was to be used. :pok:

Thanks to New World I'm in the club too now  :).  I was so impressed I then bought a second one that is in new shape and has the Cabelas logo (How common are the Cabelas marked ones?) as the price was right, so now I have a user and a backup.  I never liked the sharp edge handles and old style plier heads of the PST series, but the slightly beefier pliers and rolled edges of the pulse are just great.  Can't believe these were ever discontinued.  The Fuse loses the file and the quality feel of the pulse, there is no replacement for the Pulse as far as I can tell.

Yes !
I´m in this club to now.
Actually first time I have one in my hand. It´s really shiny and nice, not a perfect sample but I don´t mind.
Didn´t know it was so like pstII toolwise but a little thicker. I like the rounded off feeling of it and it´s very cool looking.

Doesn't have the horrible part serrated blade you got on the PST II, thankfully. ;)  I also much prefer the scissors on the Pulse. :)

Dang, I've got to dig out my Pulse and carry it now, it's been far too long. :D

Title: Re: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: enki_ck on February 14, 2014, 12:11:51 AM
Not really, I didn't count it would go that low. Well shipping will probably be 8-9 € and I don't know if I can source a pair of scissors that will fit if those are messed up. Are they the same as on the new Wave/Blast?
Title: Re: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: kirk13 on February 14, 2014, 12:31:40 AM
No,they're similar to,if not the same as the PST 2 or Original Wave.

They may look odd in the pic because the spring only takes tension when they're fully deployed

Are the Pulse scissors shorter than the Charge scissors?
If they are then put the Pulse scissors and diamond file into the Rebar.
That would be a super sweet version of the Pulse to bring back.

I finally received my Pulse today. Date codes are 1100 on both handles. Only a few blems. I carried it today, but didn't get a chance to use it.  >:(
I'm pretty impressed as far as size and weight. I think I need a pouch though. The locks catch on my pocket when I go to retrieve it or put it away. Which pouch should I look in to?

I'd have a look at this one by Leatherman (http://www.leatherman.com/938650.html#start=6).  I know it says it only fits the original Wave, but I've just tired my Pulse in one and the fit is pretty good.  A touch loose perhaps, but not bad at all IMO.

I solved my pulse carry problem. Back pocket did not work for me. I wanted to carry it in my 5th pocket, but the locks kept catching when I would pull the tool to use it. The solution was to make sure I put it in my pocket with the locks facing me. I know.

Here was a tribute photo I took a while back of my father's Pulse. This one has great personal value to me as it is the most sentimental MT in my current collection. The others being a pair of cheap American Campers bought for the archery range, and a Coleman Pro Lock. This Pulse was worn by my dad as his dress MT. At the time, I was quite jealous of it, and being a dirt poor university student I couldn't afford one. I did manage to stumble upon a Coleman Pro Lock at a local big box store that was in my price range however.

Nice pic. That's awesome that your dad instilled a love for multitools in you. I'm hoping to do the same with my son. My dad was never into fixing anything. He always had me do it or paid someone to do the job. I did teach myself a lot growing up though, so in a weird way he got me into tools.

The pulse to me is a perfect multitool package, it's showing it's age with a lot of the newer designs out there but it still remains as one of my favorite. I gravitated toward one hand opening tools and the new fancy stuff but buying a rebar a while back made me realize that the simplistic things always seem to work out the best. Love that diamond file.

Just remembered about this thread. I got my Pulse a couple of weeks ago so can I join the club ?

Used but not abused shape, had seen some rust but had been cleaned up pretty well but left some stains.

And use it I shall  ;)

I've been carrying quite a bit since I got it and like it almost as much as my modded Rebar.

I would say sorry.....but I'm not. ;)

As I said in my video review; I don't think the Pulse is flawless, but I do still think it's one heck of a good tool.  If only they'd used the (slightly larger) small screwdriver from the Sideclip on the Pulse I think it would be nearly perfect for me.

The Pulse is hands down my favorite mid-sized Leatherman.

It's like they combined best aspects of the PST (straight blade) and the PST II (scissors, diamond coated file) and added a really cool locking mechanism to complete the package. The closest thing that packs those tools into one is the Blast, but even that doesn't have a diamond coated file and it's WAY bulkier. The Flair I have has absolutely perfect fit-and-finish and it has a very refined quality to it.

If I just had to carry one multitool around, it would be the Flair.

Post by: symphonyincminor on March 21, 2015, 04:42:35 PM
I guess the Wave is the closest thing to the Flair (diamond file, scissors, straight and serrated blades, plus a saw), but I'm more of a traditionalist and prefer the butterfly style Leatherman's to the Wave/Charge/Surge family of tools.

I'm in.
Made a slip case for mine as the original sheath was AWOL. Turned out pretty nice. I was concerned that the rocker-locks might prove difficult to navigate through the leather to the form fitted shape, but they wiggle through fine.
I took it completely apart a couple of months ago to fully polish the handles and Plier Head (it originally had "Microsoft Windows Server 2003" etched into one side, a rear eyesore, and a bugger to remove). Two of the screws got damaged, so I had to turn the heads down in a drill (using a file) and cut a couple of screwdriver slots in them. Worked OK, maybe even better than new. :D

I've had a few, and sold them for various reasons.  One being that it was too pretty/rare to use and I was scared to scar it up.  I won't be doing that again.  I've proven to myself that even with really hard use, I don't break my Leatherman tools.  That's not to say they won't ever break, but I'm not prone to it.  I have beat the hell out of my Rebar and it still looks new after I give it a good cleaning.  The pliers show a bit of wear but all in all, it looks fantastic.  I mean, I've used that tool as a hammer countless times and it's fine.

So yea, the pulse is riding on my belt as I type!  It is a fantastic model and I'm truly saddened that it wasn't produced for a longer run.

Yeah because all they would have had to do was put push type locks on it and maybe change the plier head to one of the newer ones (not even have to be the replaceable cutter one) and would have been a great EDC tool

Absolutely!  I'm not sure why the didn't to be honest, the blast was much closer to ideal tool loadout than the rebar is.  I'm in the minority on this one, but I must say I absolutely love the small screwdriver on the PST/Pulse/Supertool.  I really miss that when I carry my rebar.

A cross between the Blast and the Rebar would be ideal :D I love the scissors on my Blast and way back when it won out over the Wave to me because it was essentially the same tool without any OHO blades and not as fancy  You know that may be why they discontinued the Blast and it's brothers  People may have been choosing them over the Wave and it's family tree because of the similar tool loadout and functionality and that would have caused a drop in profit :o Guess we will never know though :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :D

Could be.  Whatever the reason, it was inevitable because a lot of folks strongly disliked the zytel handles.  I never had any issues with them at all.  They aren't as good as rolled edges but they aren't bad by any stretch.

As for the pulse, I think they could have done away with the rocker portion of the lock and left it like the Supertool locks were and they might have sold more.

I think they were just trying to rush and get locks on some of their tools to stay in the game and that may have been the best thing they could come up with at the time :D Thankfully they came out with the push tab lock system

I never minded the Zytel inserts either but if I had my rathers I would go with rolled edges as well :gimme:

Absolutely!  I'm not sure why the didn't to be honest, the blast was much closer to ideal tool loadout than the rebar is.  I'm in the minority on this one, but I must say I absolutely love the small screwdriver on the PST/Pulse/Supertool.  I really miss that when I carry my rebar.

Yeah, sorry mate, but you're wrong there. :D  If I could bring myself to do it I'd have the small screwdriver from my Sideclip and swap it into my Pulse.  THAT would be an awesome MT. 8)

That is indeed an awesome tool!  The one on the crunch is similar and I use it all the time.  I love my sideclip but that one I AM scared to use because it's so worn out and it was a gift 16 years ago.

Nice pic! I am gonna have to snag one. Been kinda eyeballing them for a long while. I think it would be great for light days. Do they have an awl?
Title: Re: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: NutSAK on August 23, 2016, 04:15:54 PM
No, they don't.  It's basically the PST II tool loadout except with a plain edge knife rather than serrated.  Or a PST with scissors instead of the awl, with a diamond file.

In a pinch you can use the small flathead for punching holes or pair it with a Pioneer or better yet a Farmer   :tu:

Got the Pulse 2000 and happily together for 17 years everyday.
Better than most marriages !

I did have bit adapter envy like the WAVE and even better the crunch has a built in unit in frame.
So I attached a Craftsman 1/4 deep socket and I can attach any standard bit racket or any connector to it.

Anyone know if you can remove say the can opener and small driver and put on the Wave bit extender piece or even the
Wave or Blast eyeglass driver ?

I think it would fit but you would probably have to modify it a bit for the lock to work. Give it a go and let us know if it works out. I don't think anyone has done it. Not many Pulse mods have been done around here.

Good luck !

Not necessarily ;) It would be a bit thinner (closer to the Fuse's width as the rolling locks made it thicker than it could have been) than the Rebar as it only allows for 2 long tools plus it has a better stock toolset to me (except for not having an awl)  and also has the better diamond file :tu:

Nice pics guys!

After a arduous journey fighting with a poor ebay seller about a untruthful description, getting a miniscule partial refund, hours of disassembly/cleaning, and adjustment; I finally have a good example of a Pulse. I am not as fond of it as I usually am something I saved for, because of the trouble involved, but I am glad I have one now. Took a pic with a second Mini I acquired today from a friend.
The Pulse caused my pulse to skyrocket. :ahhh

Just to join the club, here's mine.

And a question right away: the knife side roller-lock on mine became pretty loose, the pin has a play of about a mm, so while the tools still lock, the roller itself has back and forth and side to side play as well and it rattles even when closed. Anyone experienced the same?

I'm wondering about sending it to LM for repair, but I have concerns, as I live in Europe and all warranty returns have to be made through the country's representative and as far as I know, they send these things in bulk to Oregon, so there's no way for me to indicate that it has sentimental value. Although it would be a misnomer, as I'm not attached to this particluar tool, only the form factor and the functionality. So in this sense I'd be very happy if I got back a working Pulse, I'd be equally satisfied if they provided a Rebar as a replacement, but I'd be utterly disappointed if they "shortchanged" me with a Wingman/Sidekick. Any ideas what I can expect?
Title: Re: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: Poncho65 on November 18, 2017, 06:18:40 PM
If you want it repaired for aure then it might be best to send it straight to the US yourself  This way you can communicate directly with them about the matter :tu:

Hard to say but you might end up with a Rebar in exchange  they are a great tool in their own right but you loose the scissors and diamond file that the Pulse has :-\

Also welcome to :MTO:
Title: Re: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: Exeter on November 18, 2017, 07:05:18 PM
Thanks! And yeah, I tried to see clearer so I contacted LM customer service in email, explaining the situation roughly the same as I did here, but I haven't heard back from them in 4 days, so I turned to the second best place for informtaion/advice, you guys here.  :D

And I'm not sure about sending it directly to LM, as they clearly state that non-US owners should go throgh their country's official Leatherman-dealer, I guess it's about shiping cost or something, they don't want to deal with (the cost of) overseas packages all the time. Also it wouldn't be woth for me either, if I had to pay the shipping there and back, I could just buy a used Pulse/Rebar from the money.

If I could be sure it's either repair or Rebar as a replacement, I'd be okay, I wouldnt even mind losing the scissors as I never leave the house without a SAK or Micra, both with superior scissors than most LM ones.

Anyone sent in a Pulse for repair before?

Perhaps contact your local warranty department then and see what you would get for sending a Pulse in  :tu:

Well, warranty wise they only deal with stuff locally if bought it from them directly, anything other - even from local, but unauthorized dealers - just gets sent to LM headquarters, that's why I turned to the head customer service in the first place.

But I don't want to hiijack the thread further, as it is not called the "Pulse owners' questions, complaints and concerns about warranty"  :D

Even if you botched it up, LM will more than likely send you a Rebar. :tu:

Looks like I have a foot in everything..

A put together from different parts. This Pulse was bought for salvaging, with some broken, some working parts to repair my other Pulses. Its a really sold frame, solid lock. Why waste it right? Parts put together comes from a PST and a Chinese made MT( the bit holder).

The pliers was terribly loose. You can see the pivot was still tightened by peening the pivot with a punch. Turning the pivot doesn't work this time round..  ;) Not the best attempt I have done, but hey, now cuts paper.

2 grooves were cut to enable it to lock at different positions. It still amaze me that manufacturers still refuse to put in a proper full size hex adaptor....

Yay! One more working toy to play with!

The Pulse is far too good a MT for me not to carry it at least sometimes and for the last couple of days it's been attached to my belt.

I think this tool just oozes class;
One of the few tools or knives I carry on its own.

I was just missing mine too much while looking at your pictures here and in other topics. I knew I would buy one again sooner or later, and it turned out to be the "sooner" option. :D I'm excited about handling a Pulse again, and I'm very curious about what shape it will be in exactly. (The photos showed some slight discoloration on some of the drivers, but no rust spots, no big scratches or anything, so here's hoping that with a good cleaning and some pivot tuning it will be fine. I hope I'm not jinxing it!!!)

I'm back in the club! Finally, finally my new Pulse arrived after sitting at customs for weeks. After customs it turned out to be a pretty pricey purchase, around $100 in total, but I don't mind now, it's just a lovely tool in good condition. Very few scratches, miniscule rust spots and the list ends there. The tools are very-very lightly used or not used at all (for example the file is immaculate). I'm very happy, I just love the feeling of familiarity when holding a Pulse again!

Sorry for being late  :hatsoff:

I've received this little fella today.
Date codes are 0801 /1202

Apart from some light use marks at the pliers gripping area, a slightly dull blade and the small flat driver being covered in epoxy, everything else seems unused.
The small flat driver cleaned up with no props and the knife blade got a touch up and all is ready for action  :ahhh

I like the locks rocker thingy... got used to it already. And the tool set is just about perfect for me :tu:

Nifty little thing this  :like:

Oh, one thing I've noticed is that the handles show a bit of a shadow in some places (more than on any other old LM I have).
I've tried to make that visible by adding some light from an angle. Did it develop some natural BO ?  :D
There was no rust at all on any of the tools, not even the pliers  :dunno:

Great pic, Gareth :like: and Stitchy, I think that is stain from moisture on the tool and thankfully not rust but could have been trying to turn into it at some point  so very well could be a more natural BO  :like:

Ah, the Pulse.  :dd:  What a wonderful tool.

I get tired of PST this, PST II that around here all the time, blah, blah, blah, when we all know the Pulse was and still is (I'm talking about you, Bond) the best of the 4" Leatherman tools.

Ur..um...right guys?   :pok:

:D
Title: Re: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: Poncho65 on June 18, 2021, 03:27:18 AM
I wished they had went the route with the Pulse like they did the Supertool 200  It would have been the logical thing to keep on improving the PST/Pulse line as they did with the Supertool line :dunno: Putting push tab locks on the Pulse would have made it a definite winner back in 04 vs going away from it  but I guess if they had only added a file then the Kick would have been the Pulse 2 minus the locks :D Then we would have a Pulse 3 instead of a Bond now  ;)
Title: Re: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: SteveC on June 18, 2021, 01:44:33 PM
The only negative about the Pulse is the lack of an awl which I remedied  :D

Title: Re: Pulse Owners Club
Post by: NutSAK on June 18, 2021, 02:10:06 PM
Actually, the lack of saw and awl...  But I just carry a Farmer with it, which is slimmer than what I would have to carry with a PST to get the full tool compliment.

There's awlways a give and take.

Thank you for the welcome!

It has certainly been used, not aggressively but used, all of it. It has always traveled with me on my motorbike and outdoors and in Board rooms. How has it held up? As I gaze at my collectible (as I now know) it is pristine! Original leather pouch and all.  I’ve always looked after it and now I’m really pleased about that.

I don't feel these lock release mechanisms would break easily. Actually, I think they are more robust than the rocker tab ones on the more modern Leathermans. There are two different things to consider, the tool lock itself and the release.

I have only seen one of the pieces of those lock systems break over the years (it was someone here on MTO  ) but they are very sturdy :tu: The Pulse releases tools much easier than the ST200 does

Hey guys another video today from me :salute: It is about the Leatherman Pulse today :woohoo: I can never find much in the way of old school Leatherman on YouTube so I guess I will just have to make it myself  ::) :D

Great video!  I don't know why, but I imagined you sounding like a grizzled lumberjack before I heard your voice.

There is also an interview on Youtube with Tim Leatherman at Smoky Mountain Knife Works about 30 minutes before the doors opened the day you bought the T4. I assume it was the same day since he was showing off a P4.

A Pulse Owners Club!!!
Who would have thought???

A poorly photographed and described Leatherman Pulse with BIN option, arrived via mail to me Saturday.  Inspection revealed to me a nearly brand new tool, with dried brown grease near the handle pivots, A diamond file with hook groove, and handle stamps of 0800/1000.

It is a lovely device and oldest LM in my toolbox.  I am honored to find this gathering and to share my Pulse in photos...

The Pulse/ST200 has been on the top of my wishlist for a long time. By now I had given up on getting one, since the price always ended up around $300 with import taxes, and the fact that no sellers would ship it here.

I haven't seen it for sale in Norway, but yesterday someone listed one for $50. Fastest purchase I've ever made, as I was convinced I'd never lay my hands on one. It appears to be in great condition too. Very excited to get it over the weekend!

:woohoo:

Thanks LoopCutter and Poncho :hatsoff:

It does indeed appear to be unused. I bought it from an old woman, probably been siting in a drawer for years. There was some surface rust around the Pulse logo, but some WD40 on a cloth removed quickly.

I am very satisfied, finally a rolling lock tool for my small collection. It also seems like a highly capable tool with a great toolset, and I like the scissors. :tu:

Huge congrats to you nakken.  That is more than a fair price to pay and the tool is gorgeous.  The Pulse does have a very nice tool assortment.  Good sized tool as well.  Those rocker locks are sure fun to play with as well.  I see you also got the sheath as well.

Hellooo! and greetings from an Irishman living in The Netherlands. I bought my pulse new in 2000 and it's been in pretty much daily use since then.
I rarely go anywhere without it.
Here's my Baby...

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
Much loved and used.. As evidenced by the broken small flathead screwdriver. Entirely my own fault for trying to jimmy something open that eventually needed a much bigger tool... My little heart broke and my soul was forever scarred that day  :'( I keep threatening to grind it back into a usable shape but so far I haven't been brave enough..
I also bought the tool adapter kit on a whim the same day. It's datestamped 0598

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

I love that there is a Pulse owners club.. It's a pleasure and honour to join  :)

Welcome Marco!

How does a Irishman land in Netherlands?

My ancestry resides in Zealand!

My first Pulse was obtained just last year, a 2004 model iirc.   Nice tool and it tides in my travel pack and is a solid back up to my Rebar.

Nice kit and good pictures. Just remember when including pictures of your Pulse always take a photo of the tools good side!  LOCKS UP

WELCOME  :tu:  :hatsoff:

PS:  Have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day on Friday.

If you own a McCormick tractor built between 2000 and 2007, this Pulse was used to build it.  [ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]    [ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]    [ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
