Title: SAK 'n' Cake
Post by: magentus on September 07, 2017, 04:36:16 PM
Cream slice - a present from a satisfied resident! Why am I piling on the weight since starting this job?

Anyone else enjoying a bit of cake this afternoon?

Yes, sure. One of the guys in my apartment building will stay in Poland for weeks on end, during which I make photographs of his incoming mail and forward them to him through e-mail.
When he gets back, as he did today, he always has some nice eats for me. Today: the "Bossche Bol", pride of my home town (not my own pic).

That's whipped cream, inside a thin cake layer covered with chocolate. The real thing was invented by bakers family De Groot and is available in my home town only, all others are copies that just aren't as good. One of my cousins works at the De Groot shop near our train station, there are long queues of customers each day.

Do I detect you're offering a De Groots GAW Ronald?

You should really come and visit my home town 's-Hertogenbosch (the Duke's Town) if you can. There's much more to experience. Like the Saint John's Cathedral and over 150 pubs and restaurants.

Can we walk around town with our vests full of SAK's?

Maybe we should all have a weekend at your place Ronald? Christmas?

Who's up for it?

Great idea! Are you sure you have enough of them to stuff your pockets?

PS I'm living in a single room apartment; it might get a little crowded

I'll pick you up in my U Boat Pabs - we'll arrive in style. Which part of the coast shall I meet you on? If you swim out about 200m I'll surface and you can climb aboard. Water shouldn't be too cold in December. I have Bovril to warm you up.  :tu:

Hehe this was posted on the same day as my Bday. I got a nice size cake, I wouldn't want to get the SAK messy like that, the frosting would be a nightmare all over lol.

It rained today. First day of rain in about 70 days. And it's cooler today, as well. First hint of Fall.

So we celebrated with coffee and cake!
