A comment under Jon Gadget's video (linked in my previous comment) coming directly from Victorinox states that they will not make a new tool unless it solves a modern problem.

Thinking about that...   I realize that they mean - people have had to cut things, tighten things, loosen things, open things, drill things, file things, etc for the last hundred years, and the near future is no different.  The package opener (which they have had on their pliers-based tools) which now appears on the Companion solves a modern problem of a vast increase in the number of deliveries in the last 4 years, much of which has fragile contents (when you accidentally cut open 4 coffee pods while opening a box, you will know why they say to use the right tool for the job).

Wanting some tools and not others is in no way a modern problem, so I don't suppose we will be seeing a modular tool anytime soon.

More restrictions on carrying a pocketknife is certainly a modern problem, as my folks had carried pocketknives in the UK since the war until the 1970s.  So I can see Victorinox adapting to that.

Otherwise, I don't think I can come up with a modern problem that uses a tool that isn't available on a Victorinox already.

Three 58s: chromed stamped steel Diplomat (I  really like the names like Diplomat, Broker etc), brushed stainless steel and leather Coach!
Thanks to AzteCypher for his kind support to acquire them!

The leather scales are in very good shape but the knife itself is not - there is a broken spring (you can see the file does not close) so I decided to remove the scales and put them to another classic.
The removal was easy - like any other celidor scales. To my surprise, there are toothpick and tweezers embedded in them!
But after further consideration it makes sense that they were left in - without them there would the opening for the T&T heads and the thin leather would sink in them.
The pin holes in the scales seem to be rather worn - look like the scales were already removed in the past, I do not know what the previous owner(s) did to them. But still look usable - I will try the trick with kitchen foil for reinstalling - I would rather avoid using glue. (Image removed from quote.)

:iagree: Maybe we'll see a Micra with outside opening tools one day?

I don’t suppose we will.

The Style CS had scissors and an outside opening blade.   It’s been discontinued.

They claim that they follow the market, and that it was discontinued because of low sales and lack of popularity. I will admit that between the Style CS amd Micra, I chose the Micra after much consideration back and forth… proving their point.

I thought that the form factor of the closed Micra was cleaner and safer. I also gave it extra points because it had more tools than the Style CS.

In hindsight,  I should have gone for the Style CS. I did end up snagging one before they got discontinued. I just haven’t added it to my rotation because the Micra hasn’t failed me yet (as a backup to a larger knife)

I've wanted one of these tool boxes since I saw my first one online a few years back. This is the Craftsman 6517 Carpenter's Toolbox.  30 inches long, it is built to hold a carpenter's tool kit. It is missing the saw holder that mounts on the lid.  I think I can fashion a new one.  It is also missing the welded piece on the left side of the lid.  I'm not sure what I will do there.  I have arrested and removed a good bit of the external rust, but it still needs additional cleaning.  I love the handles on the end and corner bolsters.  The Craftsman crown logo indicates this box was manufactured in the 1960's or early 1970's.  I plan to store my old hand saws,  brace bits and an older Stanley level in this box.

Well, the Lightning is similarly priced to the ICE version, both being reasonably well equipped for about $70k CAD.

The government is offering almost $20k in rebates to buy the electric version, which is significant.

Then, considering the significantly reduced operating costs (ie, four cents per km vs twenty seven cents) and you see that there is a significant savings to be had all around.

As I said, I'd likely save enough each month in fuel costs alone to make at least half the monthly payment.

What a cool thread. Here are my two guys. The shiba inu, Remi, will be 17 in October. The two year old corgi is my sister's who asked if I could take care of him for 'two or three weeks'. That was last January. But we don't mind, he's a good boy and very gentle with the senior shiba.

They're both very sweet looking dogs.  :tu:

Day 22

Cutting a blister pack of cold medicine in half to store the unused part for next time (without risking accidentally popping a new dose open by tearing at the perforation)

After watching maxlvledc’s youtube video about the roxon modular tool I hope Vic has been developing a modular SAK in secret so blades and tools can be subbed and chosen by the user. THAT would be an exciting turn.
