Alternate scale tools?
on: April 28, 2026, 01:39:12 PM
I recently came across the FireFly fire starter that supposed to fit into the Toothpick slot on a SAK. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to them so I'd be curious if anyone has any experience with them. But it got me to wondering: What other replacement scale tool options are there that I might not know about?

That is the only one I am aware, but I will admit I learn everyday something new.

The T & T are my favorites options.

And via YOUTUBE contributors I have learned to store fire starting material and starter option into the corkscrew on my HUNTSMAN or Climber.

Great idea as my typical SAK carries have a corkscrew.

You Tube is a great resource as well.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

The firestarter tends to corrode in my SAK. They have other accessories as well you can look at such as the tinder. There is a toothpick that can store the Leatherman eyeglass screwdriver. If you have the plus scales you can modify to place an extra pen.

Those are the easy ones. There are folks in here that have done more extensive ones. Cool stuff.

I concur with LC; there aren’t a lot of other options out there.

There are the Garant tweezers, but I’m not sure they are widely available.

See:

Personally, while not exactly a scale tool, I find the mini-screwdriver that fits in the corkscrew to be the most useful SAK add-on.
