Niteize Hip Clip vs P7 Suspension Clip?

I have been using a P7 clip to carry my SAKs for years now. Recently I discovered the Niteize Hip Clip, and it looks like an interesting option to put on the side of my shiny new PX. Has anyone here used both methods of SAK carrying that can share some insight about them? Is it an upgrade to shell out the ~8 bucks to get myself the Hip Clip?

I have used both. I currently have the Hip Clip on a PX and a Pioneer. Both have had the key ring nub removed.

I like the feel of the pocket clip. I think it makes it quicker to access as well as placing it back in my pocket.

I also have a Hip Clip on an older Wave.

The tape on the PX clip was to make is safe to be around the new cars at work. However, I received a package today making that unnecessary.

While I have never had s SAK fall out of my pocket while using the P7 type dangler clip, I feel the hip clip is more secure.

I was planning on putting it on my new blue PX in part to cover up the pesky DLT logo on the engraving plate. But it sounds like a nicer way to carry it either way. I suspect it will take a long time for me to get comfortable enough in this new carry method to actually file off the keyring nub though. But I probably will eventually if I do like the Hip Clip.

One more question, have you ever tried removing the Hip Clip? Was it easy and did it damage the surface at all?

I have not in a SAK, but I had one on my Buck 110 once. It takes some cleaning afterwards but no damage as far as I could see.

Might be a bit harder on the SAK because of the texture of the alox but still should clean up just fine.

So I just got a Hip Clip and stuck it to my PX. So far I have to say I am loving it except for one possibly big problem. It has very very little pocket retention. It already fell out of my pocket once just wearing it around the house. Granted, I was jumping on a trampoline and the clip caught on the hand rail when it fell out, but that never would have happened with a P7. There is virtually no friction between the clip and my pocket. Have you experienced similar issues with this thing?

interestingly I noticed the same thing, I have one on my Spirit X and opted to cut the clip down and use super glue to put it on. I think this could be improved further by adding some type of ridge in the middle of the open space of the clip, it will force the fabric up against the clip and increase friction. The other thing you might be able to do (easier) is to rough up the area that touches the pocket with sand paper. A third option could also be the rigid side of velcro attached to the clip to cling to your clothes.. at that point though, maybe there is a better clip.

I have had those clips on a Gen 1 Wave, Pioneer X and a Pioneer. I have never had any problems with any of them falling out of my pocket.
