I wished they had made an updated version of them with push tab locks and released it as the PST 3 or something like that :dd:

Great pic, Adam :salute: :like:

It's crazy how Leatherman went in different directions in those days.  Pulse, Fuse, then Rebar and finally Bond.

I loved the Zytel series but they are different  LM figured that out and went back to their roots somewhat by bringing the Supertool 300 out and then the Rebar :tu: took then quite a bit longer (for some reason  ) to bring the abond out though :D glad they did as it fits plenty of people's carry and lifestyles as well :salute:

Just wished they had updated the Pulse in its exact toolset with new lock system  :ahhh diamond files are the best :dd:

the locking system is a little bit fragile, it's the same as the supertool 200. Anyway, for collecting purpose, it's ok, but I'm not sure I could use it as an EDC.

But it still look's great  :D

You are correct, they are the same.
Can be finicky at times.

Also, be aware if you are not already!  You can release the lock on either handle, simply by deploying any other tool in the same handle about half way. Then both are free to be closed. 😎

Actually this trick can. Be used on any locking handle tool.

Ah yes, I noticed that on another tool (maybe a fuse). Thanks for the info  ;)

BTW, as we're talking about that, I feel that the locking system of the fuse (which is the same as kick, blast, supertool 300, probably few other tools), is a bit fragile, too..

The two small metal pins that form the pivot point of the unlocking piece can break quite easily.

Anyway, for me, PST technology > all. No locking system, no problem with the locking system

The KICK is a NON LOCKING TOOL just like the PST, similar tool set as well.  As is the BOND!

The PULSE and SUPERTOOL 200 have the roller style lock.

The FUSE, BLAST, and others have the Lever plate style, except the OHT Which uses individual liner locks to secure a tool when deployed.

I am not aware of issues related to pivot pins on the Plate style locks failing.

I've unlocked my ST200, and formerly a Pulse, like LC has described.  It works well and I'm hoping to prolong the life of my Super Tool.  I started out with the PST and the original Super Tool, so I'm used to doing it that way.  Welcome to the club by the way!
