The pioneer is dead, long live the pioneer!

Well, "dead" may be overly dramatic, but ol'Blackie is being retired.

My 5 and 3 year old got me a berry red pioneer for Christmas. My 5 year old didn't like the black color and knew I liked knives, so she conspired with my wife to get me a red one. I'm very happy with it and it will be my new edc!

G-Unit 2.0 checking in

Here’s berry after 5 years of carry and use every single day. Still going strong.

Just in case anyone was laying awake at night worrying if I had abandoned all morality and was no longer monogamous with Berry  :ahhh after receiving a syph custom, well, worry no more.

She’s still the one :dd:

It’s been over a year since anyone has shown their monogamous commitment. Let’s give a little bump.

2018 berry, still carried everyday.

Unit 48 was given to my Aunt a while ago when she fell in love with it.  Seeing that I had a couple other Yeomen, I figured it wouldn’t hurt too much.  Plus to be honest my eyes had been wondering thinking maybe I wasn’t meant for this life.

I strayed from the path and experimented with others.

In my wandering I kept being drawn to my Syph Yeoman.  It didn’t get a lot of carry because it just seemed too nice to be an everyday user.  But then one day, something changed.  I realized it needed to be a user.  It deserved to be handled and used so that I could appreciate it more often then just when I opened the drawer..  It was The SAK for me.

But then tragedy struck, I lost it.  How could it be just as I was coming to the realization that it needed carrying, it was gone.  I was distraught.  But then a few months later, out of nowhere it reappeared.  It was time to celebrate.

But before I formally announced it as Unit 48 2.0, I needed to send back to Syph to remedy one regret - it needed a drawer. I missed it so much while it was gone but that just confirmed my coming decision was the right one.  It has now been back for over a month and in my pocket non-stop.

I’m convinced that it was really meant to be Unit 48 all along but I was not ready to let it before.  But now this Syph beauty has claimed its rightful place where hopefully it will stay.

Two more years have passed and still daily carrying my berry pioneer. 7 years total as of today.

USCK=U.S. Combat Knife. Pretty much a 08 Soldier with a standard Vic cross, black-coated tools, and "U.S." printed on the top scale.

That is a long time, especially with all those SAKs out there.

Ha yeah, I flirt with changing it up, but just haven’t found something that I like as much.

That yeoman is something special. I love the scale color!

Cracking on into 2026 with my long time love for the last 6-7 years . Still does exactly what I had an armourer friend engrave on it at couple years back
. Hope you're all still enjoying life with your significant other of the knife variety(and the person variety for that matter:D)

Probably should update this thread now that g-unit 2.0,  berry, has been retired after 7 years of daily carry. In February I swapped her out for a standard silver one.

My plan is to carry the silver one for several years and then switch again. The goal is to have 4 well loved pioneers to pass down, one for each kid.

Pictured is:
1) Ol’Blackie - my EDC from 9/2012 - 12/2018
2) Berry - my EDC from 12/2018 -2/2026
3) Silver -my current EDC

Solid plan chap  :tu:
Any reason you didnt go for another coloured one(so as to show the wear ) as opposed to the simple silver  ?

Mainly because the colored ones tend to cost more than I want to spend, and in this case the silver was on sale at Amazon for $22, which was hard to pass up. For #4 I’m going to try to find another colored one, though.
