SwissCard Scissors Unusable. Grip? Mods?
on: July 10, 2023, 05:28:07 PM
The hole is too small for any of my fingers. Do other people have an issue with this? Any solutions?

I always thought of the loop as just something to grip while you push down on the handle to cut something.  Like holding a Classic to use the scissors.  It should be child's play to make a clip-on lanyard to fasten to the loop when you use it if you need something bigger to hold to.  Best wishes Gary

It has been a while since I have used the Swisscard scissors, but IIRC I would use the very tip of my middle finger on the hole to pin the tool to my palm, then index finger below and thumb above to actuate the scissors.  Yes, it is a bit awkward, but that is the trade off for the pocketability of such a tiny pair of scissors.

The pic of my Rambler below should give an idea of what I mean.

I think the hole was never meant to accommodate any finger (even a pinky) but rather just to close off the curve of the ‘lower part’ of the scissors.  It’s not the most comfortable position, but it’s a 2-finger operation where the lower part of the scissors rests on the index finger, and the thumb operates the top for cutting action.  That curve outside the loop is where my pointy finger indexes the scissors.

I keep one in my pouch along with my ST300.  It’s perfect for quick snips only.

Thanks for the help. After experimenting a bit, I think the most comfortable grip is with the loop on my middle finger 2nd knuckle, and the lower shaft on my index finger 3rd knuckle.

Who knows? Maybe someone else will come looking for this.

No like in the image above   :pok:   ;)

The little finger (pinky) works as a good anchor point in the hole and you can get some good traction - even for longer snips!
My hands and fingers are of a reasonable size, and the little finger fits reasonably comfortably in the hole.
