No LM Surges
on: March 25, 2009, 08:06:11 PM
I decided to replace the Surge that I sold (wish I didn't do that) so I went to Target, Walmart and Lowe's and couldn't find one.

Is the Surge going away?

I hope not

Thanks,

Bash

Some Wal-Marts are clearing them out at 40 bucks right now. Check around your area. They hide their clearance under the counter so you gotta ask the sporting goods person.

Why are they clearing them out? Is LM planning on discontinuing the Surge?

Thanks,

O.k., I just got off the phone with LM Customer Service and they confirmed that the
Surge is still in production and there are no plans to discontinue it.

Good news

I haven't heard any "chatter" on discontinuing the Surge but then again they prob wouldn't announce it.

If you can get one in a clamshell pack as it seems they don't rattle like the older (boxed) ones do. IMO anyway.

I got my Surge at Wallyworld for $35  .

And also an H503 knife for $25 .

I EDC the H503 during the week, and on weekends carry the Surge.  The Surge is heavy, but it is a very well made, quality tool.

I wonder if with all the Surges you seem to get rid of and then ask for again whether you have ever had the same one more than once.

It just occurred to me that LM123 is the kender-kin of multitools. MTs just "randomly find their way" into his collection ("When did I get that?"), and equally randomly leave it ("I'm sure I had it somewhere here...") :D

Slightly obscure fantasy reference there Noth.  :D  The slightly sad part is that I get it, and you may well be right.  From now on LM123 has a Topknot in my mental image of him. ;)

Get me to a Walmart! Quick!

Given how expensive they are in the UK you could flip them on eBay.co.uk for a tidy profit at that price...!

Aren't they not allowed to be sold on ebay.co.uk because of the knife.
