The mother of all flea markets
on: March 27, 2009, 06:36:51 PM
So next weekend i'm headed toward Canton Texas for their monthly swap meet/ flea market. March April and May are the best times to go as their are way more vendors due to the nice weather. It takes 3 full days to walk around and see everything. Last year i scored a Leatherman Supertool (Leatherman123 has it now :D), a SOG crosscut, Bear and Sons multi, 3 different Gerber multis NIB, and a Made in the USA PST. I didn't pay over 15 bucks for any one item.

I know a little corner booth out there where the guy has a display case full of multitools of all types..from chinese junk to the high quality we are used to. Damn good prices too. He had a Charge AL for 30 bucks!  Used but really good condition. I was broke after 3 days.

Anyway if you are in Texas or nearby check it out.  It's between Tyler and Dallas on I-20. April 2-5

I have always wanted to go there. I live in North Texas near Denton. I have been to that place in Grand Praire though. It is big but not like Canton big.

And i'm back from Canton. Texas in April is one fine time to be outdoors...one of the very few months to were you don't freeze to death, melt to the pavement , or get blown away by tornado or hurricane. I did find some goodies sifting thru all the acres of junk out there. I found a SOG Paratool, a SOG multi (?) a Leatherman Crunch and a 80's model PST.

The Crunch i got for 10 bucks. It was in a lot of old and broken knives. I think because of the Crunch's unique way of deploying the guy thought it was broke.
The PST is in brand new condition. As far as i can tell it looks to be an 80's model. I'll have to check the PST thread here in a bit.
Some old farmer sold me the Paratool for 8 bucks with its sheath. It needs a good oiling but it's in great shape too.
I'm gonna have to look on here to see what kind of SOG multi i bought but that same old famer sold me that one today for 10 bucks with sheath. He had a bunch of old Shrade, Case and Wegner knives.

The Crunch is going into edc :multi:

:o Good haul man  I can't believe you got a Crunch that cheap :ahhh That is an awesome price :tu:

The PST is a late 80's very early 90s PST before they starting putting datecodes you can tell by the saberpoint blade :tu:

and the SOG seems to be in good order as well

I would say that is a good days work in the Flea Market world :D

Just got em out of the dishwasher and now they are soaking in Remington gun oil overnight in a ziplock bag. The sheaths are gonna get a little Brooks proofhide to clean them up.

Well carboot season has started up again over here.  I failed to get any interesting tools today but I did grab a bunch of Maglites.  I'd have been happier with that haul of Pacu's though  :-\
