Atwood Limited Edition G2 Thick Titanium Prybaby
on: April 15, 2009, 01:37:02 AM
Let me start off by saying that I've owned over 100+ Atwood tools. I have been lucky enough to own some very rare and expensive pieces and the G2 thick titanium Prybaby is my favorite tool ever. Limited to a run of 42 pieces, these are ultra cool. Mine is actually a second that Peter sold me and has a nasty scratch on it, but it's a user for me so who cares!  :D

The Specs:

OAL- just under 3"
Thickness- .160 (5/32")
Finish- anodized stone washed
Material- titanium
Tools- Pry tip, bottle opener, screwdriver, 3/8" wrench

The first thing you'll notice about this tool is how nice it looks, but does it actually work? It sure does. I was able to do some serious prying with it and the v-notch made easy work of pulling staples, opening boxes, etc... The bottler opener is well placed and works great! The screwdriver on the back of the tool works great, but you have to take it off your keychain to make full use of it. A minor issue, but I'm glad it's there if I need it.

The thick titanium on this Prybaby is a really nice feature. It feels like a steel Prybaby with a whole lot less weight. I don't have a scale to weigh it, but trust me it's light!  :tu:  The anodized stone washed finish is stunning. The finish doesn't come off like other anodized finishes that I'm used to. I don't know how peter does it.

There you have it. What else can I say about this tool. It's great addition to my keychain and it keeps me from using my knives to pry with. I would also say this tool it a great backup to your favorite multi-tool. Most of my favorite multi's aren't that great for prying and the bottle openers are a little flimsy. The G2 thick titanium Prybaby solves those problems.

In closing I would highly recommend that you pick one up if you can find one in the open market. Please remember that not all Atwood tools are sold on eBay.  :D

*** This is my first review (not my strong point) so go easy one me!  :salute:  ***

It was a great review GG - no worries. Ultimately, there isn't a great deal to say about a prybar, so I think you bigged up the looks and style exactly right.

About how thick is it? I have the S30V G4 Prybaby, is it similar to that?
I used to come here a lot.

Thanks Dave!   I agree, how much can be said about a Prybaby. It's .160 or 5/32".  :tu:  I'm not sure how thick your G4 is, but most titanium Atwood tools are fairly thin.

Dave, off the subject, but what brand digital caliper do you use? I've always wanted one but have no idea what brand is any good?

Just a cheapy one I got off ebay. I'm hoping that it is the battery and not the fact that it was too cheap. It has the name "BUDGEN" on it, and some stuff in chinese :D

I've used it a fair bit and it's accurate enough for the stuff I need. It might make a purist cringe a bit though. But for about $10, it has worked well until just now.

They look very like the ones on this page: http://www.tresnainstrument.com/digital_calipers.html

Lol - no, as I say, this one (assuming the batteries I just ordered revive it) does everything I need. I'm just ary of giving advice on something I know very little about.

Mind you, that doesn't stop me talking about multitools :D
