How fast did you ever drive your car?

When my family and I went for a vacation in the northern part of my country,
my fastest was 140 kms/hr.(around 90-95 m/h). The SUV I drove can take more, but my heart can't.
So, how fast did you ever drive your car?

Little over a 100 mph in a VW GTI in the Western United States.

115-120 mph (speedo errors rampant) on motorcycles several times. (On and off track).

That said, top speed is less relevant than acceleration (linear or angular). Acceleration is where the thrill is.

120 MPH on a 1968 BSA Lightning,got married in 69 and quit the fast life!!

120 plus (speedometer pegged) in a sweet 61 Chevy with pipes twice lifted in the rear. I can remember it like it was yesterday it was 2:00 in the morning i was racing a Mustang on the San Mateo bridge driving from San Francisco to Hayward i had the Stones sympathy for the Devil in the 8 track. I guess it was a 70s thing.

105 MPH in my Pontiac Grand AM. Only did it once to see what it could do, now with a kid and I all I keep it around 70-75.

185kph in a rented 1997 VW Golf GL 4 door. I was in Toronto working as a PI and the guy I was following had a 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo, so I did it down the 401 highway that goes right through the center of the city. We held that speed pretty well all the way from Hwy 10 in Mississauga to Morningside Drive in Scarborough, which is a pretty fair hike.

I loved those old El Caminos.I had a '69 with a 396. Once I was running late for work and made the 20 minute drive in 11 minutes.

Around 120mph or so in various cars throughout my youth. Stupid stuff which I can't believe I did when young and idiotic. Now I rarely go 5 over the speed limit.

On bikes I've hit around 170mph or so indicated but like was mentioned they have a pretty big error factor so maybe 155mph or so. Fast bikes and track days are a fun combination. Same thing for the bike on the road, I rarely go 5-10mph over the limit unless I'm way out in the middle of farm country or something but that's pretty rare these days.

Just guessing around 120 to 130 mph in a 91 Chevy truck but the speedometer only went to 85 but the dial made it's way back around to 35 again

Then I got the 99 Chevy truck that I own now and they shutoff at around 97 98 mph

when I first got it back in early 2000 I would get up to 97 and hit cruise control and pretty much went that as often as I could

but now I barely get over 75 and 80 on the interstate and that is rare

I also agree that the acceleration part is the best but just doesn't last long enough

150+ MPH on the Autobahn when I was stationed in Germany. Here in the states my top speed driving was about 130MPH in a 1973 Plymouth Satellite(4 door). It had a slightly juiced up 360ci engine. I bought the car for $500 in 1990. Uglier than sin but had a new motor in it so it was fun to drive. Of course the new powerful engine ruined the transmission in about 2 weeks so I put a new one of those in there too. Neutral drops aren't good for transmissions but I didn't care, I was 18. It was decently fast but being a big car from the 70's it didn't corner worth a crap.

I had a Ford Mondeo with a special 2.5l V6 in it which I frequently had up to about 150mph. I blew the engine up on a French motorway eventuall, but it was a company car so I got a new one.

Fastest I've ever driven in the UK would be nowhere near that, probably 120mph, just to see what my MGF was capable of, just the once.

A tad over 100 MPH, I'm a speed freak at heart but I also have a clean record and want to keep it that way, since everything from insurance to driver's licence fee is tied in and can go up very quickly.
