No need to apologize. That's a pretty good-looking watch, and the Spirit ain't half-bad, either! :like:

I found all of one example when I searched eBay for "Wenger Ueli Steck." The AI description makes me leery, yet I'll watch it in the hopes that it goes unsold. Given the high start bid and only two watchers (myself included), that seems at least probable.

Wow, good luck on that! It does look slightly suspicious with the new poster and such but the bay is pretty good about resolving so not much risk, especially if using PayPal.

I made one more slight mod to my Spirit X. I've recently been needing small flat head drivers and though it is slightly less effective of an awl, it isn't bad at all in that regards either.

I'm out on the Ueli Steck; mostly I want to see if it sells. And you and others have me convinced I should try a SwissTool someday!

Can't go wrong with a Swisstool!

I recently picked up a Trailmaster which is my first larger SAK. It is nice actually... The blade is the same length as a Surge's and is OHO locking and the flathead/bottle opener is also liner locking. The saw isalso the longest on any of my tools.

I think it'll be a great hiking tool!

I love that the serrations are on the tip end of the knife and the plain edge close to the handle!! That is waaaay more usefull than most of the semi serrated knifes out there that have it the other way around...

I absolutely agree with you! That makes it so much nicer to use in some cases such as normally with combo blades carving/widdling wood is much harder with less control since you have to do it closer to the tip.

Great looking pouch you have there! Is that a modified all metal Zebra pen?

No mod! Just an F-701 which is their all metal version. I dig the weight of it, also use the regular 301s plenty too!

For a change, because I've been working on outdoor steps at a lake house, where the main need is pretty basic but calls occasionally for a broad tough blade, I've been carrying my dirty but sharp old Ulster Boy Scout knife.  Unlike the one I had as a kid, this later one has a Phillips blade, but it's still pretty close, and it's old and rusty, as a good Scout knife should be.. Lots of pressure treated lumber, and occasional brackets and bolt heads for which custom whittled clearance is needed, and the long flat bevel of this works well for it.  Plus a kind of nostalgia for the days when a plain old Scout knife made you the king of the world.

Tomorrow, I'll probably need pliers and scissors again but today I hark back to simpler times.

What did you change about it? I feel like I didn't give it a fair shake the first go around.

I switched out to the 154cm plain edge blade, added scissors and designed&printed a plastic insert that carries a couple bits.

Skeletool and an interesting 91mm SAK I haven't yet identified. It is essentially the same 2 layer setup as a Compact but no parcel hook and there was no pin in the plus scales which I changed out for my own ones to be slightly thinner.

Yeah you must be correct. I was thrown off because although it has no hook and has a grooved corkscrew and screw in the scissors (with no groove for the spring) it had scales with a pen. Must have been right before 91 when they started changing it to a compact.

Same carry as last time for me.
