@David Bowen:  :hatsoff: I'll read that review soon. I'd like to have some Ti gear eventually.

No, but it'll be going on the long must-buy list. :tu:
 :like: but what is it?

Though it feels like a big step up in size, the Super Tool is actually only about 3/4 of an inch longer and a little wider than the original PST, and about 4 ounces heavier.  A difference big enough for trouser pockets, but not for jackets and sheaths and the like.

Very sturdy and uncomplicated, and whatever steel they used seems better than that of some other makes, very tough.  Between my two I prefer the Super tool for its locking blades.  The PST is a nice sized package, but for anything but emergency work the non-locking screwdrivers are a drawback.

These days I'm more likely to carry the smaller Gerber, but the big old Super Tool has traveled around a lot over the years.

Thanks for the perspective on comparing those two.  :hatsoff:

I'm not even trying to cover all the bases today (although I do have a Rebar nearby if I happen to need some other tools).

No, but it'll be going on the long must-buy list. :tu:

Hmm, so I've had this SuperTool for about a week now maybe and unfortunately for me I haven't really taken to it as much as I would have hoped.

It isn't that it isn't a good MT, because it is, but the main reason why I like the PST(II) is that it is SO compact compared to any other MT in the same length segment. That compactness is just enough for me to pocket carry it where I would need a pocket clip or sheath to carry other similar length tools.

With the Super Tool it is too big and heavy for me to pocket carry (comfortably / without much noticing) and so I carry it in a sheath. It is slightly more compact than it's successors, an mp600/diesel, centerdrive, or a Surge BUT since it is in a sheath anyways, I wouldn't much notice a difference carrying it compared to other larger tools.

A Swisstool has a better version of the toolset, pocket clip carries nicely because it is about as thin as a SuperTool, has faster access to the tools, more efficient locking mechanism, and it's more comfortable using pliers. This and the Surge are still my go-to larger tools.

I might  keep the SuperTool as a part of the collection but I doubt I'll use it much.

After my last post I realized I've only assumed the SuperTool would be too heavy to pocket carry. I haven't really tried it, so to be fair I cleaned it all up, reassembled and oiled it, sharpened and adjusted it and I'm going to try pocket carrying it for a few days.

This is already another plus that it is quite easy to disassemble, clean and reassemble.

Ok, so the Supertool is pocketable (subjective of course). Rather than having it sit at the bottom of my pocket though I carried it closer to @pilotsupergrip PSG style (iykyk) but attached to my belt with a handy clip.

This worked but then again it still didn't give me much of a reason to carry the SuperTool over other MTs. Having everything in closer to new condition did make it nicer to use of course.  :climber:

Well considered and documented pocket setup. Thanks for showing it.
I find for edc contingent work carrying my ST is less desirable than a well sorted old PST or PSTII. That is because the ST looses out mostly for its bulk and weight.
For specific heavier work it's impressive especially considering the design date. That positive is equally applied to the PST / II too I guess.
