Spent the evening in the hobby shop. I have got a young relative, on Åland, that needs age appropriate fishing gear. He is well on his way as a fisherman - this was 2023:

Looking at his face in the picture, I get the feeling I had myself - getting my first serious pike.

In a couple of years time he is ready for more serious gear - but until then I have restored a 1970ies ABU Abumatic 170 for him. The 170 model has a special place in my heart as it was with a 170 I got my first real fish. The modern equivalent is utter crap. This is the real stuff - from when even the simpler fishing gear from ABU was built to last forever.

This evening - and a Pioneer X

And a nice vintage rod

This summer it is time for his first real knife...

Skeletool and Compact. This is a classic EDC combo that always impresses me in terms of the balance it strikes between function and ease of carry and use. I've had this on me for the last few days.

That Seiko... What model is that? And you have me thinking that one of those Skeles in the spiffy colors would be nice to have.

Thanks! That is a combination of a Seiko turtle case with 5KX dial, movement and hands, a custom chapter ring, and a Tudor Black Bay bezel insert. 😁

Nice carries Steve and Antti!

I've been carrying the Flex again lately.

Last night as I was ultrasonic cleaning the last (edit...sorry - the latest...) batch of SAK: s that I bought, I took the opportunity to do a resto-mod of a pre-1985 Champion C. Got it a while back and the scales were rather dull and as I have a NOS Champion C of the same period I thought I would make a nice user out of this one. The tools are all in top shape. Cleaned and oiled earlier so this was just a swap of scales.

Added black +scales and an old straight bevel mini screwdriver.

Sorry for the dust... black is difficult.

First version "no bevel" magnifyer.
