Thanks, VP and WS!  :iagree: :hatsoff:  Here's another 'big-un', that I modded myself with inspiration from a bloke, on another knife forum.

My new Bk 40

Thx for pics. Whatta ya think? Is it a keeper? I have been eyeing one for awhile. Becker always takes his own path. I like the rounder scales if it still carries well.

Etrip, I see your Camo hat. Have you looked into GUY CRAMER and HYPERSTEALTH out of BC for camouflage yet? He has been rocking the break up and blend boat since mid teens at least. But his stuff since 2019 has gone kind of nonlinear. The guy has even gotten some patents based on spooky interaction up to 2 feet apart. His mentionable work apparently breaks out into five parts.

1. Conventional uniform fabric with what seems the best break up and blend patterns I as a civilian have seen.

2. 2mm 2-layer light bending membranes that leave objects close behind invisible and only the background visible.

3.  Combining of the 2mm membranes with rear projection to achieve holographic-like imaging (something done in the past in some laser art back in the 1980s I vaguely recall, but taken up several notches.

4. Something called Spookyace tech that uses quantum entanglement to achieve deception effects up to two feet from an object!

5. Directed Laser splitting to achieve concealed object detection/analysis via spatial mapping of up to 10 million contact points.

It’s not miracle stuff. It’s science. It only creates certain kinds of illusions. But it is an impressive step down a road to greater concealment and detection of same.

Worth a site visit.

I have never been willing to pay the ticket for a Sinkievich, but admired his designs. The Kershaw Atmos was reasonably price but I carried other 3” blades with better steel. So I never ordered one. But the idea of an inexpensive little Sinkievich without assisted opening, which I don’t like, kept gnawing at me all these years after the little knifes introduction and favorable review by Nick Shabazz, whose tastes in folders with clips seems to track with mine. I have noticed it fading into the memory hole as the torrent of new knives continues. It fell between what became the two main markets—cheap and sexy assisted folders and expensive  and sexy unassisted folders on bearings.

The Atmos is unassisted but on bearings. It has a great design but obsolete steel (8Cr13etc). It’s a market orphan.

Why Kershaw doesn’t put an m390 blade on this and sell it as a ZT for $225 I really don’t know. Maybe the margins is higher on up steeled links when a designer doesn’t have to get a cut.

This Atmos is a freaking great cheap knife.

And I mean cheap. I found it for $29 with free shipping.

I find myself unable not to carry it as a backup knife to some other knife, but then I always use it instead of the other knife. Weird!

Whatever, I’m a happy camper and grateful to finally have a Sinkievich and so appreciate through my hand why he is held in such esteem. The market seems to be moving away from his slender slashers, but I really think he purified knife design and cut away a lot of design obesity and showed previous slender knives needed to be better thought through. Designers never stay en Vogue for ever, but the great ones stand out more and more in the rear view mirror of fickle markets. Pocket knifery owes Sinkievich a large debt for how he distilled the vectors of knifes for others to follow.
I mean a Sink isn’t supposed to be that cheap ever!!!  Even if he only draws one measlely line of the knife.

But there it was and I HAD to order it.

It’s great. Lighter than light. A sliver of a knife in the pocket that somehow deploys a respectably sized blade. I have XL mits and it fits my hand.

The only knock is it’s kind of edgy everywhere. Kershaw decide not to smooth any corners. But part of me likes the edges too.

This was a gentleman’s folder with some ‘tude BEFORE that market really took off.

I’m in a rut. I have to carry these sensible knives, until I either find the right Coast Guard knife (or equivalent), or break down and E-Trip a Demko AD20.5 (petite) or an incoming Off Grid Enforcer XL (mongo).

I am a prisoner of reason for now. 😂

Today, I carry the Western All Long Pull Model 902 Camp Knife with one of the most righteous AWLs in all of camp knives. 😀

I used this marvelous awl this morning to punch a new hole in my favorite belt, which as a result of dieting, had grown too large in circumference...yet again.

Down from 42, to 40, to 38, to 36 today.

Destination is 34, dig in then and do not pay for the same real estate twice.

What a great awl to celebrate and cast a lesser shadow with.
