First gen Bucklite Ranger from the late 1980s. My favorite Ranger variation.

2022's Ranger challenge made me realize that the ergonomics of the modern LTs are terrible, and resulted in me going after the early Bucklites.

I wasn't exactly sure how to classify this one.  CRKT's Venandi is what I'd describe as a modern slipjoint, designed after the Bullet Trapper, but much smaller (4.1" closed) and much lighter.

It is almost unnoticeable in the pocket, has great snap, and holds a really good edge. The thin blade (something I have recently begun to prefer over thicker, more durable blades) means it's a razor.

Vosteed Griffin, really different carrying a hawkbill style blade versus more traditional.

Photo shamelessly stole from companies website because I'm in my PJs

Busy day in the shed today. Despite all my nice and pretty knives, this brute does most of the heavy lifting around paint cans, chemicals, etc, and whenever I feel like prying with a knife, which is of course not recommended.

I scrolled through the whole thread from the very beginning. It took me about month and a half. Positive impact is that I collected some more knives during this time. Gator is one of them

Those Gerbers can take a lot of beating! I've been literally destroying this one and it keeps on cutting!

Custom piece from Ghost Devil Knives. This was a one off prototype friction folder that he made when he was getting started. I think it's maybe his first folder Kirinite handle, 1095 hand rubbed. Very rough but I love it. Came with a very steep angle, I would say 30 or more degrees. Yesterday I took the KME and brought it down to 20 and it performs better. Still has a ton of thickness because it's not hollowed or beveled right.

Nice knives AA.  I think part of the hype of the Sebenza is knowing how much work they put into their knives?  The tolerances seem to be often talked about.  They are the same materials as many knives but they seem to do it with a higher level of quality?  I've never owned one nor held one only watch a ton of reviews and read about them.

Simplicity when done well can be very beautiful.   :salute:

Thank you. And you are totally right. That is also why I like Opinels because of their simplicity :)

For me as well, Opinel is elegantly simple.  I'd include Mora as well tho I'm sure there are many others.
