Hello from the Philippines
on: May 27, 2009, 06:06:30 AM
Hi everyone,

First of all, I'd like to thank the people responsible for this forum.  I never thought that such forum exists until I accidentally bumped into while doing a "research" on the Swiss Tool.  I must say that this forum is a good source of information for multitools! I learned a lot just by browsing and reading the threads.  More power to you guys!

Some of my background:  I'm an IT professional and I currently have only one multitool -- the Swiss Army Knife Champion.  I've been using this tool at home and at work since the late 90's and has never left my side ever since.  Now, I plan to get a bigger, more robust multitool -- I'm eyeing for the Swiss Tool X..

Cheers,
Entaro

You should consider one of the Cybertools since you're into IT and have got used to the Champion.

IT FTW! :D

@Eddie
I might be relocating in Manila early next year.. maybe we can meet up with the guys then :) btw, can you please recommend some reliable local online stores or shops in manila that specializes in multitools?

@noth
I guess you also play Starcraft then? :D

Welcome entaro.  The Champion is a great SAK and, as Noth says, lots of people in your line of work seem to like the Cybertools as well.  Nothing wrong with a pliers based tool though.

I don't know of any online store that specializes in MTs. The number one store that specializes in MTs is Hahn. Cutting Edge also sells MTs but they specializes in SAKs and folding knives. Our favorite SAK and Victorinox multitools is a store in the 3rd floor of Shangrila Plaza in Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. The name of the store is Kitchen Pro.

Welcome to the Forum Entaro, nice to have another kababayan in the house :D
Bro. Eddie is right about the shops but they are usually very expensive here, I just go to the store for "research" on the tools I really like. I buy my multi's from the internet shops highly recommended in this forum like EDCdepot.com (for general edc gears), eleatherman.com (for leatherman needs) and felinevet.com (for swiss army knives).
Then there is this place in Mabalacat Pampanga, Marina Arcade, which have shops carrying lots of second hand swiss army knives and multitools.

same as me.. I'm also "clean" for the past 10 years :D

@duckman1975
Marina Arcade -- the place seems interesting.. maybe I'll try to drop by and visit the place someday.

I also had a chance to visit Hahn few months ago at their SM outlets.. their prices are really quite steep! :)

Thanks a lot for the advice and tips mga kabayan! I'll be browsing EDCdepot.com, eleatherman.com, and felinevet.com anytime soon!

You should give that a couple of tries... or more like 39 to be precise. That way, with the 40th attempt (apparently) being successful, you'll be able to name this whole endeavor the "Operation WD-40". :P

Welcome to the forum- glad we could help with your research!  If you want to look at other Swiss products, you should also check out the Secret Order Of Swiss Army Knives homepage.

It's a Burmese Python from our local park :)

By the way, I purchased a Leatherman Wave from larrya78 (on Ebay) last June 1.  I'm still waiting for the item to arrive.  :)
