I don't see what's special about it comparing to other saws, should be pretty effective on wood. Folding the handle is kinda pointless if you ask me, there's still the long blade.

I don't suppose you can find trailblazer saws in UK?

Have you seen the Bahco Laplander?  Its not as long as that saw, but it flys through wood and folds for easy carrying.

I've not used a gator so I'm not much use otherwise sorry

I think that if I were looking for a take-down saw I'd be looking at ones that broke down into as few pieces as poassible. That Gerber looks a bit fiddly.

I'm positive that they did do a tri-fold saw. I sort of like the fiddle factor myself,it reminds me of how fiddly all the really cool gear was ,years ago

I do quite like the design, but at that price I may have to pass until I can get a decent buck saw instead :)

But that's the thing, it's not really smaller because you can't fold the saw blade.

I'd take trailblazer takedown bucksaw, or sawvivor over it. If you can't find it there get someone here to send you one, it'll probably still be cheaper than that gerber.

Don't forget the photo-tutorial :pok: :D

I've been looking around for instructions...haven't found too much so far. I'm not sure of how the various pieces need to be dimensioned as far as length. From the photos I've found, the assembled saws all seem to be rather tall...I'm hoping to find a relatively compact example.

That's the problem, when what I want is really a compact bow/buck saw :-\

This would be idea, but for the price :(

This one looks to be a good pattern...set up to nest the pieces together and store the blade - Midwest Native Skills
