Well, the fall was me, down about 5 brick steps as my new boots got caught while turning around. The dorcy light took the brunt of the fall(probably saved me from an injury) as I used it to cushion the fall. The click button popped out, and a nice chuck of metal came off near the lense.
Everything went back together, but its non functional now. I took all the components apart, but cant see any problems. Any ideas would be appreciated.
You don't give us the model of Dorcy light involved, which might help.
If the switch is a tailswitch, remove it and then try completing the circuit between the battery - terminal and flashlight body with a paperclip or similar.
If it lights up, then you know the problem is the switch.
If it doesn't light up, then you know the problem lies elsewhere.
LED lights subjected to high-G impacts will sometimes fail due to shearing of solder joints. Fixing that type of failure is straightforward if you have a soldering iron.
Another common failure mode is due to failure of the inductor in the voltage convertor circuit. Fixing that type of failure is possible, but usually not practical.
Hope this helps.
