Well, here's a UK legal knife for ya.

Designed by a Brit nonetheless.  :D

First 'anti-stab' knife to go on sale in Britain

The knives are expected to sell for £40-50
Kaya Burgess

The first “anti-stab” knife is to go on sale in Britain, designed to work as normal in the kitchen but to be ineffective as a weapon.

The knife has a rounded edge instead of a point and will snag on clothing and skin to make it more difficult to stab someone.

It was invented by industrial designer John Cornock, who was inspired by a documentary in which doctors advocated banning traditional knives.

Mr Cornock, 42, from Swindon, said that the knife will cut vegetables, but will make it almost impossible to stab someone to death and will reduce the risk of accidental injuries.

He said: “It can never be a totally safe knife, but the idea is you can’t inflict a fatal wound. Nobody could just grab one out of the kitchen drawer and kill someone.”

The knife is expected to sell for around £40-50 and has been tested with “very favourable” results by the Home Office’s Design and Technology Alliance - set up to research products that can deter crime.

Well credit to Mr Cornock for giving it some thought.  I'm not sure who is going to buy them at that price though.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Illegal carry tho! would be my guess  :D and the price  :ahhh :ahhh

on top of that if someone is really hell bent on inflicting harm on someone! do you really think they would opt for that knife

That just means that you either a) have to put more pressure on the blade, meaning it will tear more flesh, causing greater injury than a sharp, pointed blade or b) use a slicing attack to vital areas like the throat or make enough cuts to the victim that they bleed to death.

Yes, yes, much more pleasant...   ::)

I can see the infomercial know ....

" Hi Billy Mays here with another great invention. From the designers of the anti-pound hammer made entirely of styrofoam and nonscrewing screwdriver constructed of spaghetti come a revolutionary new product - The Anti Stab Knife! See how it fails to pierce this ripe tomato. Even this young lady here can't pop this balloon no matter how hard she tries. Call in the next 15 minutes and get free shipping.... and that's not all! Act now and we'll throw in not one but two of the UltraDim flashlights. These lights are so dim that there is no chance of ever hurting your eyes or finding those keys you dropped. Just pay shipping and handling. Operators are standing by."

This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David

After Lorena Bobbit, I doubt cheating husbands would want even that one in the house!

But really, who would want one?  Unless I am just missing the point here, surely only people that think they are going to stab someone (well don't then?) or think that someone else in there house is going to would buy them? I don't get it.

A couple thoughts:

1.  Wouldn't 5 minutes with a grinder put a fine point on that thing?

2.  Cleavers don't have a point, but I've seen some pretty scary movies with a Cleaver as a central character (and I don't mean Ward)

3.  Do they allow the sale of nails in the UK?  Those things can be really pointy...

3a.  Same question for screwdrivers
3b.  Same question for awls
3c.  Same question for pencils.
3d.  You get my...uh... point  :D

4.  Who really wants a knife anyway?  Heck, give me pliers, scissors (rounded tip) and a saw and I'm fine.  Really.

??? I can't imagine many people buying them. You'd have swerious worries about the people you were living with to even consider one. For it to make any sense at all you'd have to replace every normal knife in the house and probably get rid of any sqewers or similar objects.

Wow documentary where doctors want to ban traditional knives. They should also advocate a ban on present day cars it kills more annauly then all the diseases put together. And oh oh yes they should also advocate the ban on stones I read that people have been using them for centuries to kill one another.

Why not ban doctors?

Yes, hospitals can be very dangerous places! It is true though, that a lot of people die as a direct result or receiving medical care, however they wouldn't be there in the first place if they weren't sick :D

Knives are just being picked on aren't they? Cars, alcohol, fists, water, stupidity and numerous other things cause deaths... it's not all about sharp things being used in anger. Living is about risks, dying is a guarantee and no-one knows when or why that will be. I want to be able choose the risks I take and live my life without being told what dangerous things I'm not allowed to have.

I'm an adult and they can all f*ck off!

+1

I was given my first pen knife when I was about seven, I didn't threaten, mug or murder anyone. Now, thirty years later, it's as though I can't be trusted with sharp things.
