The SAK Beast: Vic Hercules
on: June 28, 2009, 10:10:20 PM
When I first got this bad boy last week, I actually said "wow" aloud after opening the monstrous main blade. Bigger by far than the Swisstool  RS blade and about as wide as the alox blade.  Features a nice sliding blade lock on the scales as opposed to the trekker liner lock which it shares the same body style with.

Weighing in at just under 7 ounces its definitely beefy and for some reason reminds me of a hot dog. Tools include 3 1/4" locking blade, pliers, scissors, 2 phillips screwdrivers, wood saw, bottleopener/flathead screwdriver/stripper, can opener/small flathead, corkscrew, awl, keyring, toothpick & tweezers.

The 2 phillips drivers can only be accessed by opening the scissors or pliers, pretty much the only fault I can find with this awesome MT. May use the rescue tool pouch for the Hercules, as it fits nicely after rotating the Herc 90 degrees.

Here it is with the rescue tool & OHT to compare the widths. The length is essentially the same as the others. Overall it is quite big, weighs about 1/4 of an ounce less than the cybertool 41. L 4 3/8" x W 1 1/4" x thickness of 1 1/16". Saw is also bigger than the OHT trekker saw.

A great SAK, perhaps my favorite at the moment, and aptly named. 5 out of 5 Stars!!  :climber:

Great review and pictures mate :tu:

I've got the broadly similar Workchamp, and they really do have an impressive tool load out :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

Thanks guys. Looks like the workchamps twin without the file & mini screwdriver, which can always be added from one of my other vics, and about half the size  of the XL that Chako reviewed recently.

Was also refering to the larger alox blade, not the standard one like the cadet has.

Very nice and Congrats!

I've seriously thought about the Herc, I do like it.
can you take a comparison shot of the OHT saw and the Herc saw
(since you mentioned the Herc is bigger)

thx and nice review ;)

No Problem, saw lengths about the same, Herc's is wider, and does not taper as much as OHT:

You won't be dissappointed, typical Vic fit & finish + some balls for heavy workload.

Just wondering if anybody can answer this question: In the last photo, the bottom scale of the yellow rescue tool(about 1" from left) is not flush with bolster, it came like this....was wondering if crazy glue would fix this?????

Yup, time to get me another 111m, maybe not a Hercules but definitely something. :D

I especially like how you likened it to a hot dog. =O
Got those frog legs.
