I have been seeing more and more 84mm's with scissors on ebay lately.  Seems every other day I am getting notifications about them popping up.  I was looking for one to do a cadet mod (adding saw and scissors), but I am waiting till I find a job and we move out of the apartment since I will have access to a workshop where will be moving.

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully I find one with buy it now. I just don't like competing with other people for it.. Anyways, I have bought a dozen or two saks since I joined here but the one I EDC(paired with MT) is the super tinker you gave it to me! It is so simple and compact yet very capable. I basically want 84mm version of that.

ebay is definitely your best best.  So long as your looking at SAKs just as a source of scissors you should be able to grab an old beaten-up one for reasonable money.  Just got to keep your eyes peeled  :tu:
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

After a while hunting round on ebay you realise that there are a lot more SAK collectors out there than lurk round here and SOSAK and some have deep pockets  :-\

Just a matter of keeping looking, sometimes you can get lucky and spot one that hasn't been labeled as 84mm and get it for a bit less.

I miss SAK hunting on ebay :(  Stupid chuffing company!

The going rate for a basic 84mm with scissors seemed to be $25-$35 when I was looking for them last year.

They are popular enough that even the unmarked 84mm SAKs are usually discovered by a few people.

It took a LOT of searching for me to get any for much less than that.

Well, at least you haven't got us lot from the UK upping the price this year  :-\    I think last year I paid anywhere from £4 (when spooky lucky) to around £24, condition, model dependent of course.   Not counting the alox Voyageur in that :)  Last one I got through before the ban was not marked as 84mm and was only around $11 so I didn't argue at the $14 postage to the UK  :o :)
