"Round up" for the kitties!
on: July 16, 2009, 06:36:35 AM
Here's an idea that got started over on the SOSAK forum that is equally appropriate here!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As many of you also do, I have been purchasing a number of SAKs from the Feline Vet Assistance Program, a charitable organization. Tim (FelineVet here on the forum) is the organizer of that group. Before I forget, I should also mention that there are a number of other great guys here who also sell and from whom I have purchased SAKs also.

Anyway, here is an idea that I had recently: when you are making a purchase from the FelineVet program, consider "rounding up" the amount that you send to the nearest $5. For example, if you're purchasing items totalling $23.50, consider rounding up the amount you send to $25.00. Why? Just to help out with the charitable goals of the organization - in other words, consider it a Round-Up for the Kitties.

Just a suggestion - if it's inappropriate, then I apologize in advance.

- Tim

On one hand, this is an excellent idea and I support it heartily. It's likely most people here will, too.

On the other hand, self righteous micro-donations such as this must make Tim's blood boil. If you really want to help, round up to the nearest hundred and skip the item.

On the third hand, above is a utopian fallacy and people who talk like that rarely donate anything. I'll keep your suggestion in mind the next time I order.

I guess the gist is that they may be micro donations but if you get a lot of people doing it then it pretty quickly adds up.

Another thing, these days you can make paypal payments as gifts so that Tim doesn't lose money in PP fees.

Do both and these little chunks of cash add up even faster :D
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

That's what I always do :tu:

On the original post, I think it's up to the person if they want to donate an extra few bucks.  This might give some people an idea though for the next time they are filling out an order.

True or you can still do gift and choose to eat the fees yourself.
