I noticed though that noone has offered up any Wenger suggestions.  (I prefer Vic), I just thought that was funny.
This may fall under my rule #1. If I'm debating between 2 knives or tools from different companies, and one of them is a Vic, ALWAYS get the Vic 1st. Maybe other people have the same rule mentally and don't know it.  :D :D

Hey guys... and gals! :D

I don't own any SAKs, but am interested in getting at least one, just because I know how good they are, and how much most of you all love them. I don't have any idea what I am looking for though, probably a Vic, but that's about as far as I can get. With all the choices it's driving me crazy!  :ahhh

If you have any advice for a fairly basic SAK, or at least one that would have enough tools to give me a full taste :climber:, give me some advice! PLEASE!  :D

I noticed though that noone has offered up any Wenger suggestions.  (I prefer Vic), I just thought that was funny.

For me this is down to the fact that I couldn't, in good conscience, recommend a Wenger over a Vic.  Like you I don't actively dislike Wenger's it's just that I'd almost always go for a Vic first.

Wenger have lots going for them, but for a very first SAK I'd always go for a Vic.

OK, maybe we've been remiss in not suggesting a few Wengers.

FelineVet is offering this pre-owned Wenger Highlander for only $7 :

A very nice SAK that has some advantages over Vic Tinker:
-shorter than standard Tinker for better pocketability
-locking screwdriver
-can opener is useful as a short, thick, hooked blade

Pre-owned Wenger Tradesman is available for $15:

I actually like this one better than its Vic counterpart the Deluxe Tinker because:
-better scissors
-slipjoint pliers are more adaptable
-shorter for better pocketability
-locking screwdriver

At FelineVet's low prices, you could get several used SAKs, then try them out to see what works best for you.

After you decide which model you prefer, if you decide you want a brand new one, then FelineVet also has great prices on new SAKs.
