The gist of the trade between DaveK and I was, I would trade some crappy ol' Leatherman, but I wanted in exchange a Neil modded Alox tool.  Specifically, I was interested in one of his scissors added modifications.

This is what arrived:

From the shield, it was clear it came from military stock.  Freshly minted in 2008

However, unlike a soldier, this military SAK appears to have precision in mind:

Although no specific name came with the SAK (Soldier with scissors is hardly a proper name now is it?), I turn the name "Battle Surgeon" in my mind, seeing if it fits.  It appears to have a full complement of tools, seemingly purpose built...

Except there are no forceps.

Silly me, A surgeon cannot have scalpel/scissors and forceps in the same tool, they are used simultaneously. What to do...

Ah yes.  That'll do the trick  :D

So, Battle Surgeon is it to be?

Perhaps a poll is in order.  ;)

I honestly read that as “Battle Sturgeon”.  I really thought you’d come up with some kind of mutant killer fish. :-[

PS the SAK's pretty cool anyway, even if it's not a "Fish Tank". ;)

are 91mm / 93mm tools interchangeble or is there much ore work involved?

Some are and are not.  I hope you like my definitely maybe answer there ;)  To add scissors you just need to use a new scissors backspring (i.e. with hook) but dump the hook and then drill both spring and scissors to accept the larger pins of the 93mm frame.

Hey Neil, what backspring do you use to put scissors on an alox?

The one which has the hook on the back :twak:

i thought 91mm had 2.5mm for the main tools and 2.2mm for the backspring tools.... are the alox tools different again? :ahhh

The pivot pins on the 93mm are 3mm so any tools from the 91mm range that can be transplanted need to have their holes widened.

Neil or Mr Whippy will be able to say for sure but I don't think that has a saw.  But you're right I alway think of my Scibeer mod as a Alox Huntsman, so in my head this would be a Alox Climber.  That doesn't sould as cool as the "Battle Strugeon" though. 8) :D

No saw.

Plus, I have no books with pics of prehistoric giant fish...  :-\

Oh, and there's no spatula for application of caviar after a glorious victory either.  Neil?  ;)
