ST300 info from Leatherman
on: August 04, 2009, 02:43:36 AM
I just got an email regarding the ST300 from our rep.  He said it's set to replace the Core and will start shipping this month.  Also MAP price will be $69.85 but expect it to sell for a little less, at least we'll be a little less than that once supply flows well.  It's past the office hours at corporate for me to confirm ship dates and such but I'll find out for sure on availability.  As soon as I got the email I turned to MultiTool.org since I thought you guys would find the info the most useful.

Thanks for the update.  I'm surprised.  The price seems quite reasonable.  I was expecting $90-100 range.  I'd like to put my hands on one.  The info on leatherman.com sounds impressive.

Thanks for the update :tu:

I agree, the price does look reasonable...what should we be expecting for a street price?  Hopefully around $60.

I've been thinking about the sheath also...since it's not being shown, It may be safe to assume it's the old BS pressboard sheath.  If it was a NEW and IMPROVED or otherwise "special", woulden't LM be playing that up also?  I hope I'm wrong though.

Lord knows what they'll be trying to charge over here, but it's a decent price to start off for sure. Quite tempted myself  :)

Expect around $10 more for the BO version.  It's MAP price is $79.85.

The replacement cutters are also listed.  MSRP of $10 for the regular and $10.50 for the BO ones.

What exactly is the point of those cap crimpers?  How many people working with dynamite resort to a MT instead of real tools?  Hell how many people work with dynamite?

I've often asked myself the same questions.  Are they just there to attract the 'tacticool' buyer, or is there a genuine market?  I suppose there are a good number of the armed forces that buy their own tools, perhaps it's worth it to supply to them?

The armed forces do use the crimper; especially those with a demolition training. Plus, civilians should have no use for a BO finish, other than the niche of it. Seen this way, if seems natural that BO tools have cap crimper heads...

Be careful about bringing up questions like that.

Just as has been the case in the U.S. with firearms with detachable magazines, authorities may start asking whether civilians have a "justifiable need" for BO multitools or MTs with cap crimpers.  Before you know it, civilians will be prohibited from buying them, just because they look "scary" to some people.

Don't laugh.  Sadly, that's the way that government burrocrats (intentional misspelling) think, these days.

I visited my local gun/archery shop. They told me that my Leatherman order should be in minus the Super Tool 300. However, they ordered both a regular and a BO Super Tool 300 for me as they didn’t know which one I would want. I may end up with both. She told me they are coming down the pipeline very soon to distributors and retailers.

Yes on occasions when the need arises and my trusty sword is not needed.

I was skimming a magazine called (I think) Home or Homes, and there was a little ST300 blurb mentiong it would be available in September.

Then again, by the time that info was gained, printed, distributed, and in my hands in a doctors office, things may have changed :D

Oh, and be on the lookout for a BO version of the amazing Taylor Cutlery Shrade tool ::) :P
