You could always get a Mora. They take a super sharp edge and at the price you pay you won't cry if it gets lost. lots of folks swear by them. Shop around for a good price.http://www.swedishknives.com/
another vote for a Mora, especially for your first to see if it is enough or not for what you do.can't beat the price and while they are not the prettiest blades with the toughest materialsthey really are good blades that do most jobs well.

I love the scandi grinds and like you said, the price is great!
So I have in my hands the Frost and Wenger SI. I held off on the Buck for a bit to see how I like the Frost. The Wenger is a sweet knife. I love how solid it feels, the backsprings are very strong, nice blade, bail, etc (you all know the deal with this classic SAK).The Frost is by far the best deal I've ever gotten on a knife. I paid $13 for it, how they sell a composite blade for that price I don't know. Solid, very strong, very sharp. The grip is very secure. All I've done with it so far was cut up a potato, but you can really tell how well it slices. I had never heard of a Mora before this thread, now I'm glad I asked for advice. I was afraid when ordering that the blade would be thin and feel weak, but I was so wrong. My only complaint is that the sheath it comes with sucks. Cheap, chintsy plastic, ugly as sin. Anyone have suggestions for a place to get a nice, inexpensive leather sheath?
