Who knows this scientist variation?
on: September 24, 2010, 10:37:13 AM
I have this blue scientist (?) without the cap lifter, but with an extra screwdriver instead. It has a metal inlay saying Altivar 5 on the back and Telemecanique on the front (old computer parts company). It also has the grooved corkscrew.
I wonder if someone knows about this version?  ???

I've never seen or heard of that arrangement before  :o
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Very useful little knife by all accounts  :tu:

Do you know where it came from? Maybe it was modded

Very cool!
Maybe Victorinox did a custom job for that company?
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

All I know is that someone tried to take it with him/her on a plane  :D
Because of the publicity on it, I suppose it's not a modd (personally I would use nicer scales, without publicity). I suppose it was a special run for this (French?) company. As they sold computer parts, it's a nice little knife that has all the basic tools you might need for assembling a computer, which would make it a perfect PR gift, no? Probably not even expensive at that time.
Maybe in time others will show up. That's why I wanted to mention the company name explicitely, if someday someone searches on Victorinox Telemecanique Altivar 5, he's bound to arrive here  :).
Until then, we'll never know for sure  :ahhh
