I found one that is less expensive...it might be a Chinese knock-off though...  ::)

I doubt I would survive riding up those mountains with that bike and the gear they have strapped to it in that previous picture.  The question begs the answer, why not just use motorcycles?  Those bicycles bring a new meaning to the military phrase "fire and maneuver"  :D :D :D

I think the bike still has a lot to offer the military :)

It's quiet (stealthy), reliable (certainly more than a motorbike that's breakdown then it's out of fuel) makes an excellent load carrier, and is cheap enough to equip large swathes of your armed forces with them. Even special forces use a 26 inched wheeled folder for use in combat zones now :)
