Craftsman, no pliers, with fish scaler, from late 1980's

Gents:

I have more pics I took of the Craftsman I bought in 1996 in Alaska.  The box is also shown, clearly marked CRAFTSMAN like Victorinox pre Swiss Army Brands used to do it back then ( I bought my first SAK, a Champion, on/about 28 DEC 1986, and has similar box, but lid not sliding opening; still have the box).

This is SIMILAR to the knife in the 1985 catalog, however, this one has:

- bottle opener opens half way if you want to, pre 1987 they did not
- punch/awl has hole/sewing eye in it, pre 1987 they did not
- Phillips screwdriver has can key
- Scissors has flat head screw rivet

I got a reply in 2006 from the USA distributor of Victorinox knives.  It IS a Craftsman, but I do not have the letter, so I do not have the model number they gave me.  If I DO remember correctly, it is the same model number in the 1985 catalog.

The pics, and I apologize about the quality....I did not use my Nikon to take them (knive is in the USA, and not with me in Korea, so I can't do anything until next year about new pics).

Nice variation for collecting purposes but the fish hook instead of pliers makes it pointless for me!  :-\

Is there any model numbers on the box? It would seem your knife is just a variant of the Craftsman dated between 1985 and 1989.

No.  From what I remember from the reply from Victorinox in 2006 to me, they said it was a Craftsman varient not sold in the USA (due to the plies one).  The number they did tell me I think is the same one as in the 1985 catalog.

This will be the key then, since it was not a model for sale in N.A. it probably will only show up in a country specific catalog. Since you say you bought it in Alaska I would wonder where they got it since that is N.A. Maybe from Japan or the far east.
