Laregest Crash in NASCAR History

This is pretty amazing.  37 out of 68 cars get involved in this wreck in 1967, and I'll bet no amount of multitools could have helped!

It's kind of neat to watch the old footage of drivers wearing T shirts and pants and not fire retardant, ultra-lightweight synthetic fiber jumpsuits!

Terrible to see so many beautiful old cars destroyed though...

I've heard that back in those days, some of the NASCAR drivers actually drove their race cars to the track.

I wonder if any of those guys in the big wreck had to walk  home?  :D

Anybody notice all the empty seats in the stands? I sure did get nostalgic for the days of Fireball Roberts and Parnelli Jones

Yeah, in those days folks didn't usually take the family cross country to see a race like that.  Or at least, not as commonly as folks will nowadays.

The good old days of racing when stock cars really were "stock" cars that were slightly modified, not the purpose built, from the ground up machines that in no way resemble the cars produced by the companies that put their names on them.
