Just one kind of steel used on SAK's?

I have a question.

I don't have a large collection of Sak's by any means but I did pick up a Tinker the other day and it
doesn't have the "Rostfrei" on it. Most of my knives say this but this one doesn't.
Does Victorinox use different steels for their knives or is it all the same?

The tang stamp changed in 08 and dropped rostfrei, not sure if steel changed or not, but I doubt it.

Yeah the steel's been the same since the 60's I believe

This is from a Victorinox Catalog I downloaded from a link on SOSAK Forum.

Victorinox alloys for knife blades

We use a stainless special knife steel alloyed with chromium and molybdenum to make blades for pocket tools and household knives.

Standard C Cr Mo V
1.4110 0.48–0.60 13.0–15.0 0.50–0.80 0.15

for other Victorinox knives
1.4034 0.43–0.50 12.5–14.5

Hi

In the 1976 catalogue page it is written that the blades is made from drop forged Swedish steel, from my info drop forged means steel that is pressed hot or cold into shape with machines with high pressure.
Today the steel is delivered from another supplyer, maybe Germany. The steel is Martensitic stainless steel with the specs sad in this topic above.
The steel comes in huge rolles and is stamped out polished i into specs, then comes the annealing hardening, grinding and all the Victorinox secrets ofcourse.
Absolutely incredible steel if you ask me.
