Keychain options?

Right now, I'm pretty happy with my keychain setup.  It's really easy to swap tools on and off and remove tools to use, but I'm always interested in keychain solutions.



For me, I like a system that allows me to switch tools without having to open and slide tools/keys along split rings.  I also like being able to take a tool of the keychain for use, and then replacing it on the keychain as needed.

So, what do y'all have?

I like the same things; to be able to switch stuff around or just remove for use.  I've gone about it slightly differently though by using lobster clips for my SAK and torch.

At home, I take the keys off completely and just leave the tools, but that would be doable with those lobster clips.

Nope, not once.

I too like the option of changing out some of my tools so I have a couple of S-biners which work out great.  I usually place tools (photon light ,minichamp, whistle) on one end and my keys on the other end.  Its also handy to clip to my belt loop.

I have a black #3 S-Biner and it works great for what I need.  I have a mini prybar and P-51 on a lobsterclip that attaches to the keyring.  I keep a LM Monarch 300 on the S-biner, and keys on a seperate keyring.  The S-Biner also comes in handy for church.  I play percussion in our church band and sometimes I like play a djembe.  Well sitting down and playing one can be quite difficult and the djembe carriers are quite expensive.  So, I take off my belt, put it on the first hole, then I attach my S-biner to the buckle and the other end to the lug on the drum.  Its cheap, always with me, and quite comfortable.

Be real careful with those guys, they come unclipped very easily and happened to me a couple of times.  I now no longer use them for that very reason.

I had one of these for my work keys and it didn't last very long the spring broke and there was no tension between the jaws.  Went through 2 of them in 6 months, it was getting constant use though, so maybe that caused the spring to break.  I've never had the S-biner come unclipped in the year that I've use it but I have noticed the spring tension is somewhat light.

I use a Deano lanyard thingy on my work keys and a sosakonline.com carabiner on my other keys.  I have seen a nice Ti carabiner that I am tempted by though.

LOL!!!     I'm hooked on the titanium sail rings. Simple split rings work just fine for me. I'm always looking for better ways to improve my keychain setup, but I haven't found anything I like better yet.

 ,  Yes I've used those in the past too.  They're actually quite good especially for my car keys so I can detach without having to turn off the car and remove the ignition key.

Without sounding too rude, that type of sharpener can be a bit manky.  I'd never touch a decent blade with one.

Ben, I agree with you.    That is kind of my end of the world sharpener. It's nice to have something with you just in case.

The Exotac FreeKey is a good compromise between light weight and ease of item removal.

I am absolutely in love with the victorinox keychain and spare carabiners to the point of having 3 setup for different purposes. 1 is a zippo, zippo refill canister, 2 has a Maglite solitaire and the third one has a Kershaw cinder . I just switch my keys around to the one that I will be using the most

I picked up a couple of the quick release key holders not long ago.  Still looking to find the right bits to add onto mine as well.

Well I saw these two, and I found the round one called a mothership, they make a smaller one called a ufo, and well, I have a pack of grade5 funky color 3/8 washers and also another black thick washer and I could so make it in like 10min, now I also like that other one triangle shaped yet only found it in titanium and pricy same with other funky one, so it’s like what do I do, I have like three of those S clips which would probably work, I should have two more but I have no clue where they went.. so we’ll see..

I'm surprised I haven't seen or posted in this thread.  Well, here I am and my keychain is one thing I am obsessed about, ok one of many. 

I'll snap pics later.  I love using the Victorinox belt clip.  I have used one ever since getting it 10 years ago  .  That has now become how I attach my wallet to me.  I do have a house key on that set up and my ever present Midnight Manager and Rovyvon light. 

My vehicle key, camper top, garage key are all on a separate set up.  This is where the madness never ends.  When I get home from work I'll snap a pic and chat more. 

I swear its a never ending loop for me.
