Fixed up the display case, first tentative photo.
on: September 19, 2009, 04:53:06 PM
I fixed up the crack by using an industrial product called Rez-n-Bond. Seems to be holding up nicely. You can still see the crack but only if the light hits is just right. Overall, I am happy that I have at least stabilized the damage.

I am only going to display the one side anyways (the better side as in the photograph below), planning to use the damaged side as a extra storage space.

Here is the first shot on the SAK curio cabinet. The unit came with about 40 different holders. I might be playing around with the set up for some time yet till I am fully happy. I was excited that it also came with 3 MT display holders. Bonus.

The seller is looking into getting some moneys back to me through Canada post as it was insured.

Nice looking bit of kit. You'll have hours of OCD fun changing the contents around :)

Looks great! Definitely a fun conversation piece.

I'd love to see a close up of the crack repair if you are taking any more pics.

I do not have OCD, seriously.

Nor do I suffer from OCPD.

At least it looks good, and he is trying to get you some money for the damages.

Lets see how the rack fix looks :pok:

Here is the damaged side.

I don't really see the crack in regular lighting. I bounced the flash off the ceiling. This makes the crack more apparent then without. I am fairly happy. I mean, you can still see it, but the glue stabilized the crack, and now the door acts like it is one piece. I would rather it wasn't there, but you have to make the best of a bad situation.

Did the seller explain why it's not the same model as displayed in the ad?

Aye Mister Whippy, that he did.

Alas, the matey procured the item sight unseen. Thus the booty sat in a dark dusty corner for some time, before the dog decided to clean his hold so to speak.

Arr, the matey used the same photos as he figured that is what he had. Now, the cur did tell me he looked at the bootey before shipping it to me. Keel haul me till sunday arrgg, for I am uncertain of his veracity.

Alas, there be no gain firing shot over ones poop deck, keen ye now?
