Hello October!!!

Hey all!
For the record, August is now just a bad memory. I just got back from the doc's and the knee is good. He gave me some cool pics I'm gonna try to scan and post! It turns out that I don't actually have to punch that nurse from the recovery room because indeed I did have a small tear in the ACL that was indeed repaired. You know how if you cut into a rope...like one of those really thick twisted ropes they used to make us climb in gym class...and make a small cut in one of the bends of the rope it will fray and start to unravel? That's basically what had happened to the ligament. But he cleaned it and fixed it so it's fine. And so is the knee cap. 4 weeks of therapy then back to work...hopefully!
The best news though is...KIM DOES NOT HAVE CANCER!!!! She has an infected gland that is just below the surface of her skin that they will have to remove via a 20 minute procedure in the office. They aren't exactly sure how that happened, but it is totally fixable and they are getting it out! Whew!
Thank you all so very very very much for all of the good thoughts and prayers and for just being so incredible! I'll keep everyone posted on my progress in therapy and when Kim will have her little procedure and how all that goes. Wow! What a relief. Kim and I are so thankful for all of you! Thank you!!!

Pics as promised I'll explain:

These are inside pics not outside so no blood but if you get queasy thinking of the inside of someone's knee then don't look! I think their cool!

Ok, so in the top 4 pics (L to R ) we have my partially shredded ACL ligament, then we have my medial meniscus which is clean as a whistle and the bone surfaces that are also clean. In the bottom 4 pics of this one we again see my shredded ACL and next to it a pic after it's been cleaned up. In the bottom two pics we see my lateral meniscus which is a little dodgy but mostly ok!

In these pics we see my poor patellar (knee cap) cartilage. Ouch! The top 4 pics are all of him determining the extent of the damage which was apparently pretty nasty. In the top 2 pics of the bottom photo we see my cleaned up patellar surface and another great shot of my ACL graft.

The doctor who did this surgery was the one who replaced my ACL for the second time 12 years ago. He was overall proud of how well it's held up.
Ok, that's it. I don't know if anyone else will think this is as cool as I do, but there ya go as promised. But you still aren't seeing my unshaven knee! LOL!

Thanks for the pics. I agree, very interesting

My wife had a scan of her head the other week (ears playing up) and she said the resulting images were cool. She tried to get a copy to show our boys (the youngest is mad on body bits) but the consultant just shrugged and pointed out he had no printer

I told her to take a USB stick if she ever needed another done
