The Farmer IS a great knife!

However, I don't think I can live with just 3 layers.  :pok:
Layers are addictive.  If I have an n-layer knife, I'm always thinking that adding just one more layer with that extra tool will make it even better. The next thing I know, I'm waking up in the morning with XLT  :o

Oh dear....is this an addiction??  :drink:

Yes-----yes it is.  :drink:
I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

Scientist is teh uber!

Sadly, I have uh...misplaced...mine. It's driving me nuts! If I can't find it, I'm gonna hack apart my cybertool 34 and a compact. Bit driver layer, blade an combo tool layer, corkscrew, and the plus features.

Although, I also really like the Apprentice for awesome single layer functionality.

For me its the compact right now. I'm loving the little guy. Sadly I don't have a farmer as yet, put down the pitchforks and torches guys, although by Christmas I hope to have that affliction cured. I am just about driving myself insane with lust for one...its just a matter of time...

Normally I have a Climber as I like the sissors but I'm very fond of my Alox Soldier too as I like the end on Awl

Now how about someone adding a poll to this thread so we can vote  :pok:

Funny, and weird, that's exactly the SAK I was thinking about being my first or second mod.  Today I was eyeing my Compacts and a CT-34 125th Anniversary Ed, and wondering of a combo tool on a beat-up Trial Guide was good enough or I should sacrafice a new Compact.

If I only carried 1 knife it would have to have scissors.

Right now I THINK my three favorite 3 layers knives are my custom Pioneer with Scissors, an old 84mm Climber, and the Yeoman.

My two favorite 2 layer knives, are the Cadet and the Compact.  The Scientist is cool, but I'm not sure it can travel alone.  Although the 93mm Soldier is one of the best 2 layers ever made, and it has no scissors so maybe one can get buy without them.  All 93mm Alox rocks.

OK it's obvious I have no single favorite; all this indecision is a good indication why I have a lot of different SAKs.

The solo was a flop for edc, you guys were right.  :ahhh  I'm back to my trusty Pioneer and I'm staying with it this time.  :D

I'm with you on the scissors. I really tried to make the Scientist work, but found myself picking my Compact over it more and more. When I was lucky enough to pick up a Yeoman, I got the best of both worlds and now the Scientist and Compact sit in the drawer most of the time.

I'll take the Compact usually to work stuff where I'm dressed business casual. If I'm wearing a suit (not often), then I carry a Cadet.

Well if you're going to talk 4 layers, then I have atleast another 4 favorites, but my custom Alox Explorer would be near the top.

I would call B.S. and cry Yeoman!! ...if it weren't for the awl....  :ahhh

The only problem with the Explorer is the lack of a saw--so now we're talking about the 5 layer Woodsman.

I can skip on the saw, myself, especially since the Spirit X on my belt and the Ranger in my bag both have saws.  Personally, I prefer my Explorer Plus so much better to the Yeoman, which I sold - and mentioned previously. :P

Right--the Spirit X has a saw.  ...and a blade, and a philips screwdriver, and a can opener and scissors...  and...

everything else the Explorer has.

well, except tweezers and a toothpick....  :P

And the magnifier, pen, and pin... and it's a heck of a lot more people-friendly. ;)  But, yes, it has everything else. :P

Whoops, plus the hook and lanyard ring, too. :P  Well, and the small blade... that I so desperately wish was replaced with a 91mm-scaled nail file/nail cleaner. ._.

None, that was easy :)

There are several 84mm models with nail files and of course they're almost obligatory on the keyring sized ones.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I'll touch Campers until you're a duck, and I have my Spartan with me most days.

I always have a soft spot for the "manliness" of my Vic Soldier or DAK - who needs tweezers or a toothpick?

ATM , the Alox Soldier or the Farmer , depends on the expectation of saw use .
