Universal Wrench
on: October 25, 2009, 11:02:56 PM
Right then, I'm curious about the Wenger Universal Wrench and what knives it's available on, I've been using the mighty SAK selector and great thought it is, it omits the cyclist as a model the wrench is found on. So here's your chance to shine, where else is this elusive tool found?

Heres another one, will the wrench it fit this??  Altman Mega Clamp  I know it won't fit the M12 bolt but will it turn the smaller square headed bolt without damaging the head?

S557.

It comes as Evo and Evogrip.

It is an AWESOME SAK.  One of my favorites.

And you're right.  The universal wrench is good for the size of nuts it fits.

Have you seen this:

We have them at school, I don't like them. But if you are looking for a way to tighten C-clamps that is smaller than a crescent wrench, they work OK.

Thanks gents,  The S557 is a little bigger than I normally carry but I like the look of the nomad, anyone got a spare  ;)

I'm rather the odd one out in the UK using these clamps, so I hadn't seen that little widget. I can see what you mean about not liking it, knowing that things like Atwoods exist makes me think that something nicer should be possible.

I actually own one of these things. Been using it for years. It is *very* specialized in its uses. I'm gonna do a lil write up and stick it the one piece tool section.

Generally speaking, it is only particularly handy when using it for what it was made for--adjusting theater lights.

Wenger made a model called "Windjammer" that had the Universal Wrench as well. It had an image of a sailing ship on the front scale. It included these tools;can opener and bottle opener, corkscrew and awl, universal wrench and phillips screwdriver, metal saw and wood saw and the main blade and a nail file.

I have a few with the wrench. Only problem is naming them  :-[  Windjammer, Pocket Tool Chest, Giant, Cyclist (mine has a small clip point instead of a nail file), then it gets interesting..

One with a car on the front, same tools as a Motorist but no pliers.

A big eight layer SAK, same tools as the Windjammer plus, scissors, and magnifier.

Figuring Wengers out makes my brain hurt
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.
