No, I EDC a 1985 vintage Champion and sometimes a 2008 pattern Soldier.

Nice knives and pictures.     I don't have the 05 Elsener Soldier and somewhere in the mail I have a red alox Pioneer with white cross enroute to me.  Hopefully I will get it this week.

Yes.  Been here since July 2007.  I am supposed to return to the USA in Summer 2010.  The sooner the better!!!!  I am getting sick of it over here.

Times sure have changed.  When I was in the Army, Korea was a one year tour.  If you were married it was a one year unaccompanied tour.  I was never stationed there though.  I had orders for a one year tour to Honduras but got deployed to Saudi for Desert Shield/Storm and those orders were canceled.  I imagine if you got a three year hitch you're married?  Thanks for serving.

can anyone post a closeup of the elsener soldier engraved blade? ive never seen it before except for one ebay auction where you couldnt see it clearly because the picture was so small..

I was in over 8 years.  Besides training, I spent most of my time either stationed in Germany or TDY.  The one stateside assignment I had, I was gone at least 50% of the time.  Many to the Middle East.  That was back in the day before going to the ME was the norm.  I went TDY there 5 times, the second to last being Desert Shield/Storm.  My first assignment was in Germany for two years and my last assignment was Germany again for almost 3 years.  I was married by my second tour.  I loved Germany though.  I liked my first tour better, Gelnhausen, as opposed to my second tour Vaihingen.  When I first got to Gelnhausen in 1985 I bought my first SAK.  There were shops that sold SAK's all over the place but unfortunately I wasn't into them as I am now.  I bought just my first one.  I sometimes think of all the rare SAK's I would have if I had been into collecting them then.  Oh well, I still have great memories.  Enjoy your time in Korea.  I'm sure it sucks, especially in the winter, at times but you will one day look back fondly on it.
