First day of Deer Season and I bagged my buck!

Unfortunately it was with our CAR!!!!
My wife and I decided to go to Lowe's to look around this evening around 6:00 PM. On the way to Lowe's out of nowhere a buck came and hit our car. It was like it fell out of the sky. We didn't see it at all until it was rolling off our hood of our car. We were going about 45 MPH when we hit it and my wife didn't have time to apply the brakes. She was the one driving.
We stopped and got out of the car and another car going the opposite way stopped to make sure we were alright because they had seen the whole thing. They said the deer flipped in the air 3 or 4 times before it landed. Luckily we all are fine, but there is a lot of damage to the hood of the car. I'll post pics tomorrow. Don't know where the buck ran off to, but I'm sure it found a quiet place to die. I wish we could have found him. We looked, but couldn't see anything. Hopefully whatever happened to him he didn't suffer. We did call the police, so maybe they found him and destroyed him. Not real sure.

Sorry to hear about the damage to the car DTH, but it could have been worse. Once in a while, a deer ends up going through some unlucky driver's windshield.
The important thing is that no one was hurt.
I've never hit a deer, but once hit a steer that caused a fair amount of damage to the car.

Glad everyone is alright. those deer can sure mess up your car. My mom has hit two of them in recent years. I can remember when ther wasnt hardly a deer in the country and now there every where. Alot of the farmers around here consider them to be vermin and wish they`d go away.
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

We hit a 13 point buck when I was younger (probably about 13), the very day we had just exchanged the pickup for a new (used) car. It did quite a bit of damage to the hood and one quarter panel of the car, and the radiator. Luckily noone was hurt aside from the deer, and shortly after it happened a local stopped and went into the woods to find the deer and put it out of it's misery. One half was badly bruised, and the legs broken, but the damn thing got up after it got hit and ran into the woods on adrenaline! Was crazy.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

Hit one with the rental car last year out in Wyoming. Since we were on a gravel road, my speed was down. The car was a Chevy Trailblazer and I hit the deer with the front end only (no hood bounce). When I got out, no visible damage!
My hit deer got up and stumbled off too.

Yeah, we're real lucky the deer didn't go through the windshield and hurt us. Really it looks like only the hood was damaged so hopefully it won't be too costly to fix. I tell ya, this little car of mine has been through hell. I ran over a curb and screwed up the suspension a couple of years ago. Ironically at about the exact same spot as I hit the deer last night. Maybe I should avoid that road.
A tree landed on it during an ice storm a couple of years ago. I was rear-ended a few months ago. That one didn't do much damage, just dented up the back a little and now this. Needless to say I can personally attest to the toughness of the Ford Focus. It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.
Anyway, here's the pics.

That deer sure did a number on that hood.
What amazes me is that you didn't take out a headlight.

What's funny is that I almost took the car to get new back tires Friday. I'm glad I didn't. With as tight as money is right now we may just wait until after Xmas to fix it. We've got another reliable car so we'll be OK. I went out to start it today. It started right up, ran for two seconds and quit. Now nothing, I'm sure it's the battery but it'll have to wait for a while.
