Victorinox (Elinox) Red Alox Pioneer?
on: November 26, 2009, 10:31:53 AM
I've got the Victorinox (Elinox) Red Alox Pioneer. I can't find any information about the knife.
Does anyone know - what is a proper name of the knife, year/period of issue. Thanks...

In my not huge experience of these things, you have an older and rarer knife there :D

There are a few chaps here who know a lot more who I'm sure will help out ASAP.

Hi,

you can see your knife in this old catalog page:

http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-browse_image.php?galleryId=59&sort_mode=created_desc&imageId=684&scalesize=o

It has the old number 2220 U (the U stands for bail). The old alox pioneers were made with and without bail (or ring later on).
At least in Europe the single knives had no name, they were just knives of the pioneer range, just with different numbers.
Because of the Elinox stamp and the newer awl the knife was probably made between 1961 and 1974.
Your knife seems to be in good shape. A nice collector piece !

So Fronta, as we've established it's not very good, how about you sell to me for a few dollars?  :D

Seriously though, great knife. Where did you get hold of it?
