Hannibal Lector is a Spyderco Guy
on: November 30, 2009, 04:27:05 AM
I was half-way watching the craptacular movie Hannibal today and noticed Hannibal kills 3 people with a Spyderco. Italian policeman, a pickpocket, and some bounty hunter guy. Not sure which model as i've never been too keen on them...yet ::)

In the book it actually mentions the Harpy by name.  It's ben a few years, but I think in the books he also had a SAK....

I heard that Hopkins is a knife guy in real life and that knife is from his personal collection.  :tu:

Overall not a great movie, but it had some great moments while the location was in Italy.

1. Hannibal informing the Italian detective that he is seriously thinking about eating his beautiful wife.

2. Then, Hannibal disemboweling and hanging that Italian detective - very well done.

3. Hannibal slashing the pickpocket's femoral artery, then casually walking away while leaving him to bleed out.

Once the location changed to America, the movie went down hill really fast IMO.

They should have stopped with Silence of the Lambs. What a fabulous movie that was. :)

That was a good flick.

Ever see "Manhunter" starring William Petersen of CSI?

Based on the book "Red Dragon."  Hannibal was a character, although he was not the serial killer Petersen was pursuing.

Made sometime in the 1980s and was the first movie with Hannibal as a character.  Fairly good movie IMO.

Funny that should come up I watched it on TV here just the other night.  William Petersen playing a forensic detective?  Might have gotten a bit typecast from that one. :D  It was Brain Cox playing Hannibal, apparently he was a bit disappointed with not getting the role again for 'Lambs'.

In the book a Harpy is mentioned by name. Later in the book Lecter visits the "North Atlantic Regional Gun and Knife Show" and gets a Civilian. He asks for it, as no dealer has one on the table, but Lecter wants the knife to murder and skin the deer hunters ...

That quote wasn't Noonan as the Red Dragon.

That was Buffalo Bill from "Silence of the Lambs" - played by whom I can't recall at the moment.

Was that guy an alien on Star Trek?  His nose is reminding me of at least one alien seen on screen. XD

Good job, John!

Of course it was Levine - very distinctive, low pitched voice he has.

He did a great job as the evil/kooky Buffalo Bill, but he usually ends up playing cop roles.

According to the Silence extras, that's something he's fought for since he played that role.  everyone was calling asking him to play their respective psychos.  i first saw him on the Monk TV series(picked him out right away in Silence of the Lambs by his voice), and thank god for the years and the facial hair, or i'd never be able to watch that show again.
oh, and Rising sucked.

Somewhat disturbingly, the latest Punisher movie also features a Spyderco. Could that answer some questions about Hannibal's past?
